The Arts Council of Mongolia (ACM) is a non-profit established in 2002 to support Mongolian arts and culture. In 2017, ACM celebrated its 15th anniversary by highlighting its contributions over the past 15 years, including raising $6.51 million to fund over 600 arts projects, creating 1,120 jobs, and training over 5,000 artists and cultural figures. ACM works to enhance artistic excellence, promote international cultural exchange, and build partnerships with over 150 international and local organizations.

Arts Council of Mongolia
(ACM) is an arts and culture
NGO, established by Mongolian
arts, civic, and business leaders
in 2002 with the support of the
Mongolian Foundation for an
Open Society (Soros Foundation).
Its mission is to support the
sustainable development of
Mongolian arts and culture
and the preservation of cultural
heritage. In 2017, ACM
celebrated its 15th anniversary
under the slogan ‘Accountable,
Creative and Multi-stakeholder
Year’, and initiated a campaign
that aimed to promote the
accomplishments, contributions,
impacts, investments, partnerships
and values that have been created
by the Arts Council of Mongolia
for the last 15 years.
In the past few years of
operations, ACM established a
strong and visible infrastructure,
governance, human resources and
achieved significant program and
fundraising success with support
of local and international partners
on national and international
level in increased program areas.
ACM focuses on increasing the
competitiveness of arts and culture
in Mongolia by fostering artistic
excellence, new media, enhancing
international collaboration, and
promoting Mongolian arts and
culture abroad and international
arts in Mongolia.
In this regard,ACM established
a partnership with 47 countries,
such as Australia, the United
States, Afghanistan, Iran, Belgium,
Germany, Denmark, Canada, and
Great Britain, Norway, South
Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, Poland,
China, France and Japan. Also
through community outreach
programs, ACM sustainably
increases and builds public
awareness of importance of value
of arts and culture for individuals
and the development of Mongolian
society, as well focusing on
promoting cultural heritage to
the general public, transmitting
intangible cultural heritage and
supporting preservation of heritage
sites.
On April 27, the “Accountable
Creative Multi-Stakeholder Year”
launched an “Art Value” event
which consisted of “The Value of
Arts” panel discussion about art’s
intrinsic value, as well as its wider
impact on economy, wellbeing,
society and education; a new
contemporary dance “Unknown”
premiere; “Re-imagine Mongolia”
Arts Impact Project exhibition;
and showcased “ACM” moments
of art creation using a live art
presentation with the support and
partnership of ‘Unread’ and Arig
Bank.
Why Accountable? Why
Creative? Why Multi-stakeholder?
Under ‘Accountable’, ACM
highlights its contributions and
achievements in the field of
economic growth in the framework
of social responsibility. By
December, 2017, ACM raised 6.51
million US dollars to support the
development of arts and culture,
initiated over 600 projects, worked
with 847 sponsors, created 1,120
jobs, and paid $472,000 in taxes.
Under ‘Creative’, ACM
highlights its support to enhance
artistic excellence and nurture
talents. ACM has supported and
built the capacity of 5183 artists
and cultural bearers, 1163 art
managers through art work and
professional training, and granted
local and international scholarships
to 373 emerging talented artists,
trained and involved 1207 teachers
and 7488 students and children in
different community arts education
projects, and reached an audience
of 4,966,610 viewers.
Under ‘Multi-stakeholder’,
ACM highlights its achievements
of building creative partnerships
and cooperation with local and
international partner organizations
by sending artists to international
art festivals, exhibitions, long-term
and short-term training, exchange
programs, and tours. Within this
framework, ACM supported
over 500 artists to participate in
international projects to promote
international cultural exchanges.
ACM has built a working
partnership with 135 international
donors, 158 international partners,
98 local donors and 554 partner
organizations to contribute to the
development of Mongolian arts and
culture. ACM is going to celebrate
its 15th Anniversary on December
13 with the support of ACM-US,
APU Company, and Xanadu Fine
Wines LLC.
