(COVID-19) is an infectious

globally
• The first cases were initially linked to

6. How to protect
yourself
• There is currently no vaccine to
prevent Coronavirus disease 2019
• The best way to protect ourselves
is to avoid being exposed to the
virus
• The virus is spread mainly from
person to person
9. FACE MASK
SURGICAL FACE MASK N95

Airborne pollutants, micro particles and viruses
• Well sealed fit
Designed to seal well on the face
• Comes in sizes
• Protects against
Micro organisms, body fluids and large
particles in the air
• Loose Fit
Designed to cover mouth and nose loosely
• Comes in one size
10. Gloves
The CDC has made no recommendation
that the general public should wear
disposable gloves to prevent the spread
of COVID-19
The agency does recommend that
people wear disposable gloves when
caring for someone who has been
diagnosed with COVID-19, particularly
when handling their laundry and when
coming into contact with bodily fluids.
Glove are only useful when used the
right and meaningful way.
11. Essential Needs
and
Services
Gas stations
Pharmacies
Food: Grocery stores, farmers
markets, food banks, convenience
stores, take-out and delivery
restaurants
Banks
Laundromats/laundry services
Essential state and local
government, law enforcement and
offices that provide government
programs and services.
12. What to do if you are sick?
• STAY AT HOME (Except to get
medical care)
• Separate yourself from others
• Monitor symptoms
• Call ahead before visiting doctor
• Wear face mask
• Clean and disinfect surfaces
• Cover cough and sneeze
• Hand hygiene
• Avoid sharing household items
13. Preventive Measures done by
the Government
Closing of borders
Closing of non essential needs
Isolation
Contact Tracing
Lockdown
Quarantine
Stay at home orders
Testing
Limitation of movement
Use of PPE in public
14. LOCKDOWN
Definition: a state of isolation
or restricted access instituted
as a security measure
Most countries affected by
Covid 19 instituted a lock
down to slow the spread of
disease.
It may also be correlated with
shelter-in-place wherein
people stay at home except for
essential business or travel.
15. QUARANTINE
Definition: a state, period, or
place of isolation in which
people or animals that have
arrived from elsewhere or
been exposed to infectious or
contagious disease are placed.
The proposed period for
individuals who are suspected
or exposed to the virus is 14
days.
Most countries are imposing a
mandatory quarantine period
upon arrival.
16. Bayanihan
to Heal As One Act • Granted the President special
powers: to ensure an additional
“COVID-19 special risk allowance”
and hazard pay granted under the
Magna Carta of Public Health
Workers.
• Laws to protect health workers
Also known as Republic Act No.
11469, is a law in the Philippines
that was enacted in March 2020
granting the President additional
authority to combat the 2020
coronavirus pandemic in the
Philippines.
State of Public Health Emergency
throughout the Philippines due to
the Coronavirus Disease 2019
(COVID-19)
17. DOH VOLUNTEER
Outrage as Department of Health call for
Volunteers was criticized online as
Philippine nurses viewed the P500
allowance as an insult to their profession.
On top of that nurses and healthcare
workers are vulnerable in contracting the
disease as there is a shortage of PPE to help
protect themselves from the virus.
The Philippine Government is encouraging
Nurses to #VolunteerNOW and help fellow
frontliners in the fight against Covid 19
18. OFW NURSES
The Philippines is the largest exporter of nurses
in the world – out of the 2.2 million Overseas
Filipino Workers (OFWs), 25% commit their
lives to caring for others.
For the longest time Filipino nurses have been
under appreciated in the Philippines.
Nurses are considered skilled exports and
modern day heroes for the sacrifices they make
working abroad.
Now that this pandemic happened nurses are
being pressured by the government to stay and
work for Philippines.
19. WHO year of the Nurse
World Health Organization
designated 2020 as the
International Year of the Nurse
and the Midwife
20. Heroes
The current healthcare
situation has hailed
nurses and healthcare
workers as heroes.
However the stress and
pressure can take is toll.
Nurses and healthcare
workers need all the help
and support during this
trying times.
21. Impact on Economy
• Downgrades in economic
forecasts
• Slowdown in manufacturing
activity
• Services contraction
• Declining oil prices
• Stock market rout
• Lower bond yields

23. NEW NORMAL A new normal will surely emerge, we
will be able to find ways to adapt and
restart the economy while having
precautionary measures to protect us
from contracting the disease. Terms
like Social Distancing, Work from
Home, Telemedicine etc. will become
a normal part of our life. As we are
seeing now a lot of transactions and
services that used to be provided face
to face are being migrated to
electronic and digital environments.
Until we develop a vaccine or immunity
to this Virus, we won’t be able to return
to the way things used to be.
However this “new normal” has paved
the way for new thinking and changes
that is good for the environment but bad
for the economy.
How can we find the balance between
these two now that we are given the
opportunity to create a new world, one
where planet earth and its inhabitants
will flourish.
