SUMMER PROGRAMMES 2023
We are very excited that you are considering going abroad in the summer!
These are fantastic opportunities to learn new study skills, enhance your CV, see the world, make friends, have fun, and build up your personal and professional skills for the future!
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to offer places to all students. This is subject to availability. However, we have a great range of opportunities listed below and we promise
we will do our best
This information is subject to change and is updated regularly when partner universities and other organisations send updates on their programmes.
The last update was on 1st
December 2022
NEXT STEPS
• Research the opportunities by country below, including programme websites and the FCDO travel pages for regular updates on the travel situation.
• Choose up to four programmes in order of your preference to increase your chance of a place.
• Research the costs related with the programme (programme fees, flights and visas, food, living expenses etc.). Please complete the Budgeting Plan for the most expensive programme out
of your chosen four. Depending on the popularity of the summer school, we may invite you for an interview. You will need to bring your completed budget plan with you.
• Ensure that you meet the entry requirements of your chosen summer programme, especially if you are applying for an academic summer school.
• To avoid disappointment, we strongly advise you to consult the BCU academic calendar and your course guide to be certain of your specific attendance requirements before you make plans
to take part in a summer programme
• FINAL YEAR STUDENT? You are eligible to apply for the summer programmes as long as the programme has taken place within the 12 month period from the date you complete your
course at BCU
• POSTGRADUATE STUDENT? You must check with your Academic Team if they will approve your absence from the programme before you apply.
• Check if the duration qualifies for Turing funding (28 calendar days) - you can still apply for shorter durations if you like the programme. However, you will not be assessed for Turing funding
if the duration is under 28 calendar days.
• Complete BCU’s application by 12 Noon on Wednesday 8 February 2023. The link to the application form will be available here shortly.
• Please do not apply to the host university/organisation directly at this stage. This is a two-stage application process
• We will contact you once we have allocated places, which we aim to complete by the end of February - you will then receive further instructions on the next steps, including the partner’s
application process to your host university/organisation’s programme.
• Please check your BCU email on a regular basis, as you will need to accept or decline our offer of a place within 3 days.
Please note: if you are successful in securing a place on a summer programme, travel is subject to University (including risk assessment) and FCDO approval and your placement is subject to change or
cancellation if the destination country is not safe to travel to at the time of the summer programme.
If you have any questions, we will be holding both in-person and virtual drop-in sessions with the Go Abroad Team – we will add further information about when and where here shortly.
In the meantime, please feel free to email us: goabroad@bcu.ac.uk (please wait for the drop ins if you don’t get an immediate answer).
We cannot wait to receive your application!
BEFORE YOU START YOUR RESEARCH
• Please submit one application only. We will not be allocating the first round of places until the deadline of 8th
February 2023.
• Dates and durations in the country tables below may not include accommodation check in and/or compulsory orientation dates
• Online programmes are great alternatives if you are not able to travel, however, please note that they do not qualify for funding
• Most students will be accepted by the programme provider. However, if your subject area requires supporting evidence such as an academic reference, or proof of recent grades, then the
programme provider will need to assess your full application file before they can guarantee you a place. You should note that although you may be accepted, you will not necessarily be
guaranteed a place on your preferred modules – this will depend on availability and the programme provider’s assessment of your academic background.
FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
• You may qualify for Turing funding to contribute towards this experience. In the academic year 2022/23, the minimum duration for Turing is 28 calendar days. Further information about
eligibility and contribution amounts can be found here
• Fee waivers and further discounts may also be available for some of our partner organisations
• Eligibility for funding, discounts and fee waivers will be assessed on the information you provide in your summer programme application once a summer opportunity has been offered
• Each opportunity is marked as to whether it will be eligible for a funding assessment based on duration of the programme – please note that this does not guarantee funding eligibility for all
students as an additional requirement for funding is based on individual student circumstances
Please note: We recommend you research all opportunities, not just those that are funded – we have online programmes too which are free to join and so many other fantastic opportunities of
less than 28 days that won’t attract funding but may be affordable even without the funding due to their shorter durations!

The aim of the European Studies Summer School is to
help students understand the political, economic, cultural
and social accomplishments and challenges of the
European Union, and to learn about the antecedents that
led to the creation of today's Europe. The interdisciplinary
program provides a comprehensive introduction to the
political, economic and social processes as well as the
characteristics of the rich cultural heritage and cultural
diversity in the European Union and reveals the diversity
and the most significant elements of the Hungarian
tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
In addition to the history of European integration and the
specifics of the work of the EU institutions, the summer
school explores the European Union's role in world
politics, the political processes as well as the current
economic and social situation in the European Union.
Students will also learn about the political, economic,
social and cultural impacts of migration on Europe as well
as the defining ideas related to sustainable development
and the results achieved so far in the EU related to the
topic. Gender history and current gender issues in Europe
will be also revealed in the framework of the summer
school.
Beside the economic, political and social issues related to
the European Union, the educational program focuses on
the rich cultural heritage of Europe from the historical
antecedents of the current European cultural diversity,
through the outstanding achievements of European art till
the characteristics of European gastronomy and the
diversity of living folk traditions in Europe. As intercultural
communication plays an important role in the culturally
diverse European Union these days, students will gain
insight into the most important issues of European
intercultural communication in an interactive class.

Lovely Professional University (LPU) has been hosting a
summer program by the name of “Incredible India
Program” every year in the picturesque Punjab province of
India at its campus in order to promote rich Indian culture
and heritage. Over the last couple of years, Lovely
Professional University has successfully hosted 200+
university students from various parts of the world in these
short-duration programs.
This program provides a fabulous insight into the colourful
Indian culture and its heritage. In addition, this program
touches on the staggering growth that India has witnessed
and how it has put India on the centre stage of the world
economy. The program includes a mix of fun group
activities, discussions, visits to heritage places, interaction
and visits to corporate biggies, NGO’S & a gala evening
with a certificate ceremony.
The Incredible India program is a 2-week program. It is an
Airport to Airport kind of program. We pick up the
participants from the nearest international Airport and drop
them at the nearest international airport at the end of the
program.

Summer-Programmes-2023-4.pdf

  • 1. SUMMER PROGRAMMES 2023 We are very excited that you are considering going abroad in the summer! These are fantastic opportunities to learn new study skills, enhance your CV, see the world, make friends, have fun, and build up your personal and professional skills for the future! Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to offer places to all students. This is subject to availability. However, we have a great range of opportunities listed below and we promise we will do our best This information is subject to change and is updated regularly when partner universities and other organisations send updates on their programmes. The last update was on 1st December 2022 NEXT STEPS • Research the opportunities by country below, including programme websites and the FCDO travel pages for regular updates on the travel situation. • Choose up to four programmes in order of your preference to increase your chance of a place. • Research the costs related with the programme (programme fees, flights and visas, food, living expenses etc.). Please complete the Budgeting Plan for the most expensive programme out of your chosen four. Depending on the popularity of the summer school, we may invite you for an interview. You will need to bring your completed budget plan with you. • Ensure that you meet the entry requirements of your chosen summer programme, especially if you are applying for an academic summer school. • To avoid disappointment, we strongly advise you to consult the BCU academic calendar and your course guide to be certain of your specific attendance requirements before you make plans to take part in a summer programme • FINAL YEAR STUDENT? You are eligible to apply for the summer programmes as long as the programme has taken place within the 12 month period from the date you complete your course at BCU • POSTGRADUATE STUDENT? You must check with your Academic Team if they will approve your absence from the programme before you apply. • Check if the duration qualifies for Turing funding (28 calendar days) - you can still apply for shorter durations if you like the programme. However, you will not be assessed for Turing funding if the duration is under 28 calendar days. • Complete BCU’s application by 12 Noon on Wednesday 8 February 2023. The link to the application form will be available here shortly. • Please do not apply to the host university/organisation directly at this stage. This is a two-stage application process • We will contact you once we have allocated places, which we aim to complete by the end of February - you will then receive further instructions on the next steps, including the partner’s application process to your host university/organisation’s programme. • Please check your BCU email on a regular basis, as you will need to accept or decline our offer of a place within 3 days. Please note: if you are successful in securing a place on a summer programme, travel is subject to University (including risk assessment) and FCDO approval and your placement is subject to change or cancellation if the destination country is not safe to travel to at the time of the summer programme.
  • 2. BEFORE YOU START YOUR RESEARCH • Please submit one application only. We will not be allocating the first round of places until the deadline of 8th February 2023. • Dates and durations in the country tables below may not include accommodation check in and/or compulsory orientation dates • Online programmes are great alternatives if you are not able to travel, however, please note that they do not qualify for funding • Most students will be accepted by the programme provider. However, if your subject area requires supporting evidence such as an academic reference, or proof of recent grades, then the programme provider will need to assess your full application file before they can guarantee you a place. You should note that although you may be accepted, you will not necessarily be guaranteed a place on your preferred modules – this will depend on availability and the programme provider’s assessment of your academic background. FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES • You may qualify for Turing funding to contribute towards this experience. In the academic year 2022/23, the minimum duration for Turing is 28 calendar days. Further information about eligibility and contribution amounts can be found here • Fee waivers and further discounts may also be available for some of our partner organisations • Eligibility for funding, discounts and fee waivers will be assessed on the information you provide in your summer programme application once a summer opportunity has been offered • Each opportunity is marked as to whether it will be eligible for a funding assessment based on duration of the programme – please note that this does not guarantee funding eligibility for all students as an additional requirement for funding is based on individual student circumstances Please note: We recommend you research all opportunities, not just those that are funded – we have online programmes too which are free to join and so many other fantastic opportunities of less than 28 days that won’t attract funding but may be affordable even without the funding due to their shorter durations! AVAILABLE OPPORTUNITIES BY COUNTRY Please note: All information provided for each summer programme comes directly from our partner organisations – please visit their website links for further information EUROPE: Austria Czech Republic Finland France Germany Greece Hungary Italy Poland Slovenia
