First of all I would like to thank you all for your comments and feedbacks on the
inaugural issue of our Newsletter. In this issue we have kept the topics intact ,
as previous one, but tried to cover some interesting reads related to good
investing.
We have witnessed the astronomical returns from the quality and the
expensive stocks have continued to perform well. Despite their higher
valuation, these stocks are on top of the chart for last 1, 2 and even three years..
Analyst and experts believe that, these same Nifty 500 stocks are likely to
continue their outperformance, underscoring India’s apparent preference for
quality over value.
I am sure you have learnt the art of good investing by way of SIP ( Systematic
Investment Plan) and using the features of SWP ( Systematic Withdrawal Plan) ,
as explained in our previous issue. Read some more inspiring stories and
interesting market Gyan in this issue, and invest right !
Best Wishes and Happy Dussehra !

SEBI Issues New Rules For
Multi-cap Funds. What
Should The Investors Do?
On September 11th, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) released a circular
which called for a material change in the portfolio structure of Multi-cap funds.
Multicap funds needed to have a minimum of 65% of their assets invested in equities at
any given time. This means the fund manager was free to decide how much of the scheme
assets were going to large-cap companies, mid-cap, and small-cap companies.
Here are the 2 New SEBI Rules For Multicap Funds :
Number 1: Minimum allocation to equities was increased from 65% to 75% This change
won’t have a major issue, because Multi cap funds are generally invested in equities most
time.
Number 2: Defined minimum allocation in each market capitalization. This means at least
25% each in large-cap companies, mid-caps, and small-cap companies.
As an impact of this new regulation, we expect a major shift of funds from Large cap Stocks
to Mid and Small Cap stocks.
The table shown below ( Source : ET) , will explain the clear position of few Multicap Funds
in India. This table in itself will explain you the reason, why there will be a windfall buying
actions in Small Cap stocks, after the SEBI notifications

In this month’s case story, we picked up an interesting journey of Mr Magn Lal, a Pan
Shop vendor, who built a strong capital base, through his disciplined savings and regular
investment in Equity funds. Magan Lal owns a Pan Stall in Kolkatta; I met him around 10
years back during my normal visit to his shop. Knowing my business back ground, he
asked me to help on the matter of building some capital for future expansion or other
family aspirations.
I knew, it is very difficult to explain Magan, about the concept of volatility and non
guaranteed investments plans. So in order to avoid any attempt to educate Magan, I
safely suggested him to go for a Bank RD or any other non-volatile methods of investing.
However, to my surprise, Magan was keen to take exposer to equity funds despite the
volatility factors. He was well aware about the power of compounding and power of
equity for long term investments
Finally, we decided to give him a monthly SIP of Rs. 5000 per month on following
projections.
Magan readily accepted for setting aside this monthly amount from his business income.
Chapter 2 :
Story of Magan Lal - a PAN Shop
Owner, who created a descent
Capital through patient-full &
regular investments
6. This story inspires many young and Mid-aged investors, who always complaint that
they are not able to save any money out of their Income. I want to tell all my aspiring
savers that – a small savings regularly , can create a big difference. Just stretch
yourself a little
This story displays the best method to manage volatility – as here in SIP, the cost of
averaging works wonder. And the Power of compounding acts a key catalyst in the
action
He invested his Rs 5000/- in HDFC Equity Fund (Reg) – Growth through SIP ( Systematic
Investment Plan) . This SIP, started on 5th September 2006 and redemption done on 22nd
September 2020with the value of Rs. 16,89,643 against his total investment of Rs 8,45,000
I am so proud to share this story with all my readers for two reasons :
But just by investing in mutual funds, or doing so through SIPs, doesn’t guarantee
success. How did Magan get the most out of his SIPs ?
His perseverance paid off. Despite many ups and downs in his business and
Income, he continued with his SIPs.
“Anchoring investors during falling and turbulent markets is essential for any
Financial Intermediary," Ashis Kumar Dey . Lot of investors close their SIPs when
they see negative returns; instead , one should top up their SIP during such times
to get better
Note : The fund performance shown in the story are real and used for the presentation
purpose only. There is no guarantee that the past performance will be repeated in
future also. We do not directly or indirectly recommend any scheme through this story
but want our readers to get inspired through the actual numbers. You are advised to
talk to us for suitability match, before going for any particular investments

if you sell your equity mutual funds after a year, you
must pay a long-term capital gains tax of 10 per cent

sell your equity mutual funds before a year, the gains
are treated as short-term capital gains and taxed at
