Agriseed Technologies is a seed company established in 2008 that produces and distributes seeds of maize, sorghum, rice, soybean, sunflower and beans. It operates in several regions of Tanzania including Mbeya, Songwe, Katavi, Ruvuma, Iringa and Morogoro. The company produces breeder, pre-basic, basic and certified seed classes with an overall annual capacity of 400 metric tons. For the 2020-2021 season, Agriseed plans to grow 25 acres of the sorghum variety Hakika to harvest 50 metric tons for demonstrations in 100 farms across Momba district. The challenge is obtaining more Hakika seed from research partners due to current

NB: Variety Hakika is a variety resistant to Striga, high yielding and large seeded, easy for farmers to adopt. Few
demos because of shortage of Hakika seed.
Challenge is to get more seed from research, am depending on the amount of basic seed we are expecting to
harvest next month. TARI Ilonga has no seed.
