Notes de l'éditeur
-Snack (dry snack and water only)
-Water Bottle (pop top for easy use)
-Dress appropriately (dress for the weather, wear layers because the building can be hot or cold)
-Label clothing (extra clothes should be labeled so we know who they belong to, kids have accidents and get dirty)
-Envelopes for money and extra for lunch (we cannot tell the students no to extras, so filling out the cafeteria form allows restrictions on account so kids do not use all their money, please put name on envelopes/bags with money)
-Medication (nurse holds on to all meds, no cough drops, chap stick is okay as long as they are not using it as a toy)
-PE/Library (wear sneakers and bring book on our encore days, right now PE is wed/fri and library is Thursday but that can change with days off)
-Report Cards/interims (we grade to the standard which means we grade to what the students need to know by the end of the school year, this means you will see 1s/2s in beginning and see your child progress throughout the year to 3s/4s, these grades are not equivalent to the ABCD system, interims are a tool/resource to let you know how your child is doing half way through the nine weeks, you will get 4 of both throughout the year, please sign and return these
-Conferences (November 29 and May, I will send out a schedule beforehand to let you know what times I have available, if the times do not work then we will find one that does)
-Testing (PALS, we use this test as a tool to see if students understand their letters, letter sounds, and concept of word)
Parents and Guardians, this school year will bring many exciting discoveries and milestones in your child’s life. Your kindergartner will learn and grow in a safe and challenging environment. All students will feel accepted and special by having their unique gifts celebrated. Their successes will also be celebrated, while being encouraged to continue learning. They will be challenged to use the skills they already have and build on these skills throughout the year.
Language arts, math, science, and social studies lessons will be planned around state standards and the county’s curriculum guide. The activities your kindergartner will be engaged in during lessons will incorporate skill reinforcement with gross motor skills, social/emotional skills, and language development. The skills learned throughout this year will help the student outside of school as they interact with adults and peers. They will also use these skills are building blocks of what they will learn throughout their school career.
The structure of lessons will encourage the growth of your child’s independence, self confidence, and group cooperation (small-group, large group, and one-on-one participation) in a variety of hands on, interactive activities.
