  • 2. What is Mixed Use Buildings • By definition: Mixed-use is a kind of urban development, in which single building has significantly sized to a many purpose. While this may including, dense, concentrated constructions, allowing many people to work, live, and enjoy a wide range of amenities within a relatively small area. All in all, it’s a practical way to make the most of limited space and has something to offer everyone.

  • 4. Component of Mixed use builing • 1: offices • 2: Shopping center • 3: Restaurants • 4: entertainment • 5: Residents • 6: Hotel
  • 5. Advantages for Mixed use Building 1: its ability to make the most of relatively small, limited spaces of land. Because, over 55 percent of the world’s population lives within urban spaces. 2: MXD’s make urban living more sustainable to the Environment. 3: have much to offer business owners in terms of the bottom line. Means access and walkability exposure to more customers. 4: Furthermore, this rise in value presents an excellent opportunity for investors, particularly those interested in managing multi-family homes.

  • 29. Weakness and Strength of Building Strength of building: 1:Good orientation 2: have good Corroders 3: Good lighting 4: Good Ventilation Weakness of building: 1:Lock opening ( No view ) 2: lock of Consideration 3: only have Common Toilets 4: lifts and staircase are far apart
  • 30. Building Core In architecture core is a vertical space used for circulation and services core. may include staircase,  elevators,  electrical cables, water pipes escalators. Toilets and storage
  • 31. Standard size of Staircase Stairs: a sequence of steps that connects different floors in building structure. • Height: 3.6m • Width: ? • 1 person: 0.91m • 2 people : 1.12m-1.52m • 3 people: 1.85m- 2m • Run: 0.3m • Riser: 0.15m • Landing: 0.92m
  • 32. Standard Size of Elevators: Types Elevators: A: passenger Elevator B: services Elevator C: Fire Elevator • Floor to floor height must 2.5m or more No of passengers Capacity ( kg) Size of shaft ( in m) Size of Cabin (in m) Size door in (m) 4 320 1.3m x 1.45m 0.9m x 1m .7 6 480 1.5m x 1.8m 0.9m x 1.3m .8 8 540 1.8m x 2m
  • 33. Standard Size of Escalators: • Escalators: • Height: 2.5m • Angle: 30 • Max Movable Height: 18m • Toilets: 1.5m x 1.5
  • 34. Standard of cars 1. Bike  Length: 2m  Width: 0.8m 2: Car  Length: 4.5m  Width: 1.8m 3: Bus:  Length: 12m  Width: 2.6m
  • 35. Parking layout and Standard
  • 36. Access( Horizontal and Vertical) • Corridors: One way: 0.85m-0.95m Two way: 1.75m-1.85m Three way: 2.75m-2.85m Lobby: is a room in building which is used for entry from outside. Size lobby: ( 5m)
  • 37. Building Structure Building structure consists of the fallowing:  Foundation  Wall  Columns  Beams  Slabs  Plinth  Lintels  Floors  Roof  Parapet wall
  • 38. Building Structure • Walls: are vertical elements which supports the roof. • Inner wall: 0.3m • Out wall: 0.4m • Slabs: are a horizontal members in a building structure. Building Type Slab size In m Ground 1.5m G+1 1.5m G+2 1.5m G+3 1.25m G+4 1.25m G+5 1m
  • 39. Building Structure • Foundation: is a structure unit that uniformly distributes the load from the superstructure unit to the underlying soil. Its depends soil bearing capacity. • Plinth: is layer between the substructure and Superstructure.
  • 40. Building Structure • Columns: is a vertical members constructed above the ground level. • Beams : are a horizontal members in a building structure. • Maximum distance between the Columns are 7m. Building Type Column & beam size In m Ground 0.23m x 0.23m G+1 0.23m x 0.3m G+2 0.3 x 0.3m G+3 0.3m x 0.38m G+4 0.3m x 0.45m G+5 .38m x 0.45m G+6 0.45m x 0.45m G+7 0.53m x .53m
  • 41. Building Structure • Lintels: are constructed above the wall opening like doors, windows, etc. • Rcc lintel replaced all other material because they are fire-proof, durable and reliable. • Parapet wall : are short wall extended above the roof slabs. Height: 1m Thickness: 0.2m
