i3
Process: Capturing the Power of our Creative Energy
Cooper Standard values insight and innovative ideas from its employees. To more effectively
harness and capitalize on this creative energy, the company developed its i3 Process as a
mechanism for promoting a culture of innovation by gathering ideas from anyone within the
company or its supply partners.
The i3
process consists of three basic steps:
1. Imagine: an idea that pertains to products, processes and materials related to Cooper
Standard’s current core product streams in fluid transfer, sealing and trim, fuel and brake
delivery and anti-vibration systems.
2. Initiate: the innovation process by submitting a simple online form, which will be
evaluated by the Global Technology Council.
3. Innovate: approved projects will enter into the innovation or product development stage-
gate process until project completion.
The company’s Innovation Team drives the i3
Process by identifying the most radical or game-
changing ideas to be presented to the company’s Global Technology Council, which consists
of Cooper Standard’s top R&D executives. Projects presented to the Global Technology
Council are then evaluated for potential production.
The Global Technology Council reviews approximately 30 submissions quarterly. Ideas
approved for further action are assigned either to the Innovation Group or to one of the
regional product development organizations according to established criteria.

Sealing Products
Dynamic Seals
Cooper Standard designs and
manufactures a range of dynamic
sealing products to eliminate wind
noise and water leaks. Including:
On-door seals
(primary)
On-body seals
(secondary)
Liftgate and deck
lid seals
Hood seals
(radiator, cowl,
etc.)
Margin seals
Rocker seals
Sunroof seals
Convertible top seal
Static Seals
Cooper Standard designs and
manufactures a range of static sealing
products to eliminate wind noise and
water leaks, including:
Glass runs
Outer belts
Inner belts
Below belt
channels
Glass
encapsulation
Appliqués
Roof ditch
molding
Encapsulated Glass
Provides the ability to seamlessly
integrate a front or rear quarter glass
into the sealing system for superior
sealing performance. The
encapsulation is either a standalone
component or can be integrated into
the glass run channel to reduce
customer complexity and provide a
seamless transition between the two
parts.

Specialty Sealing Products
SafeSeal™
SafeSeal combines proximity and tactile
sensing into one seal that allows for the
automatic reversal of windows or door
partitions to prevent a pinching injury.
SafeSeal can be integrated into the system
(glass run) or taped on the application to
sense both animate and inanimate objects.
Proximity sensing reverses the window /
door with zero pinch force as it is able to
sense, by the capacitance, an animate object.
Tactile sensing reverses the window at <
30nm; well below the current industry
technology.
Specialized Trim Solutions
Stainless SteelTrim
Aesthetically pleasing, while eliminating
knit lines and end caps.
Polycarbonate Hardcoat Trim
Reduces scratches and marks by providing a
more robust Class-A alternative.
5. 5
Aesthetic Sealing Enhancements
Flush Glass Systems
Systems that improve sight
line by eliminating the gap
between the glass and
appliqué. The gap
elimination also improves
aerodynamics, which can
lead to improved fuel
economy.
Variable Extrusion
(and films on TPV /
PP seals)
Provides the ability to vary
the thinness of the profile,
which aids in localizing the
seal to accommodate
different mating areas. Also
allows for greater design
flexibility and offers
customers instantaneous
and continuous options.
6. 6
Environmentally Conscious Seals
Agrifiber Seals
Made with materials that are filled with
natural fibers such as hemp, wheat straw or
kenaf. By utilizing these natural fibers in
sealing systems, Cooper Standard is
displacing petroleum-based materials and at
the same time reducing the weight of its
products
Bi-State Vacuum or Electric
Switchable Hydromounts
A reactive system technology to more
accurately respond to a variety of road
conditions. These mounts are designed to
decrease engine noise and vibration, as well
as damping to smooth road shake, which
results in improved overall occupant ride
comfort. Currently in production and available
in either vacuum or electrically actuated
switching mechanisms.

Fuel & Brake Products
Chassis and Tank Fuel Lines / Bundles
Fuel and Vapor Lines
Multi-layered, low-permeation plastic hose and
corrosion-resistant metallic tubes that transport fluid
from the fuel tank to the fuel rail. Developed to be
durable, yet flexible, these lines provide the needed
permeation protection with the flexibility to account for
engine movement.
Metallic Brake Lines and Bundles
Metallic Brake Lines and
Bundles
Brake Lines – high-pressure, double-
wall, brazed steel tubes and threaded
fittings that run from the master
cylinder to the brake (e.g. block / rotor).
Available in a variety of coatings to
meet the most stringent corrosion
requirements.
Bundles
8. 8
Bundles
The combination of fuel and brake lines
into a single bundle that runs along the
frame of the vehicle. Cooper Standard is
an industry expert in the strategic
integration of fuel and brake lines to
create the most space-efficient package.
Direct Injection and Port Fuel Rails
Fuel Rails and Fuel
Charging Assemblies
A leader in the development
of customized fuel rails, from
the fabrication of the metal
rail to brazing to leak testing.
Cooper Standard offers a
unique advantage due to its
design and development
process, and extensive hydro-
pulsation, vibration and
thermal cycle testing
capabilities.

Cooper Standard is committed to
the development of innovative fuel
rail components and technologies,
such as suspended injector and
isolated rail concepts, high-pressure
tube and flexible hose
developments, high-pressure fuel
connector technologies and
numerous advancements in

Quick Connects
Gen III Quick Connect
Next generation connector designed to meet
double-lock trend in fuel systems with proven
robust quick connect joint.
Quick Connects with Integrated
Sensors
Fuel quick connector, which integrates
sensors into the body of Cooper Standard’s
patented Quick Connect designs to
instantaneously monitor temperature,
pressure or both. The company is also
developing products that will measure
temperature and pressure simultaneously.
10. 10
Mass Dampers
Manufactured in various shapes
and styles, and dynamically tuned
and testedto meet customer
specifications.
Fluid Transfer Products
Heater/ Coolant Hoses
Heater/Coolant Hoses
From raw material mixing to hose extrusion,
forming and assembly, Cooper Standard
produces hoses of varying materials,
constructions and sizes for applications that
include (but are not limited to) radiator, heater,
transmission and battery cooling. Hoses are
designed and developed at the company’s
facilities to meet each customer’s performance
requirements.
ArmorHose™
ArmorHose™ is a thin layer of abrasive
resistant material that replaces the need
for abrasive sleeves. Because the material
is co-extruded with the hose, routing and
placement concerns associated with
abrasion sleeves are eliminated.
ArmorHose™ can be applied to most
EPDM and TPV materials, and also
serves as an barrier to oil based products.
