What is a Hackathon?
A hackathon is an event,
usually hosted by a tech
company or organization,
where programmers get
together for a short period
of time to collaborate on a
project.

About HackFest - GGV
● A Platform for the tech fanatic students to
solve some pressing real world problems.
● An initiative to inculcate a culture of product
innovation and a mindset of problem solving.

The theme of HackFest - GGV is
same as the Google Developer
Student Clubs 2021 Solution
Challenge mission. That is to solve
for one of the United Nations’ 17
Sustainable Development Goals
using Google technology.
Created by the United Nations in 2015 to be achieved by
2030, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
agreed upon by all 193 United Nations Member States aim
to end poverty, ensure prosperity, and protect the planet.

A panel of judges of our university professors will use the following criteria to
evaluate and score all submissions.

your solution is an exercise developed at GV
(formerly known as Google Ventures), called
The Design Sprint. Usually done as a 5-day

How to request and redeem Google Cloud credits
1. Register for Solution Challenge at goo.gle/solutionchallenge and be sure to mention that you are
interested in using Google Cloud for your solution
2. Review your country’s eligibility for cloud credits here
3. Form a team with up to four students total
4. In early February, we will send a email with instructions on how to request and redeem your Google
Cloud credits
a. Please make sure only one student from your team fills out that new Google Cloud redemption
form (entries from multiple students on the same team will disqualify you from redeeming
credits)

Can my solution solve a problem outside of the scope of
the 17 Sustainable Developer Goals?
For Solution Challenge 2021, we require your submitted solution to solve for
at least one or more of the 17 SDGs. When you have submitted your solution,
please review all the 17 SDGs to understand which SDG your solution is
focused on and what SDG targets you are looking to solve for.
Can one student or team submit with multiple
submissions if they’ve contributed to both projects?
The Terms and Conditions state “LIMIT ONE (1) ENTRY PER PERSON,” so each
student can only be a part of one submission.
For Participating in Solution Challenge
Can I still participate in the Solution Challenge if there is
no Developer Student Club at my university?
Yes, as a student you can still participate as long as you team up with at
least one student at an existing DSC university. You must join that DSC
community through the DSC event platform. We recommend you to then
reach out to the DSC lead for guidance on how to join or form a team with
their community.
Given the implications of social distancing, our ability
to test with users was impacted -- will the judges
consider this?
Our judges will surely be mindful of the limitations that have been
added by COVID-19. This includes but is not limited to:
● Ability to meet as a team
● Ability to have users test the solution
● Lack of internet access or proper developer environments
due to displacement from your college campus.

FreeSpeak is a software that uses Machine Learning
(TensorFlow) and video/audio analyzing tools to
analyze presentations and give individual feedback
and tips as a “virtual coach.
CoronAI - United States
CoronAI is a band worn around a patient's chest that
uses electrodes to extract real-time images of the
lungs and connects to a monitor so that doctors can
examine patients without being near them.
Picare - Hong Kong
An Android app that connects caregivers with the
elderly in Hong Kong. Their rating and feedback
system allows caregivers to perform quality services
to the elderly.
Worthy Walk - Pakistan
This Android and iOS app provides its users a
platform to achieve health goals by walking, running,
or cycling. o encourage users,
Simhae: Deep sea of mind - South Korea
Simhae, a platform created with Flutter and Google
Cloud allows users to access basic information and
activities to inspire them to attend self-help
gatherings run by suicide prevention centers.
Emergency Response Assistance - Ghana
This Android application helps health authorities
post the latest first aid steps to educate the public
and also help the victims report emergency cases
with a click of a button.
Tulibot- Indonesia
Tulibot is an integrated assistive technology, built
with the Google Speech API, that’s made to bridge
communication between deaf people and society.
Shareapy - Vietnam
This digitized support group app created with
Android helps bring people together who share
similar problems regardless of their age, gender,
religion, financial status, etc.
Capestone - Zimbabwe
Capstone is a service hosted on the Google Cloud
Platform that aims to combat plagiarism among
students, authors, and researchers.
MiCamp - India
This Android app holds all the info students from his
campus need. Features include a calendar with
upcoming campus events, student profiles, a used
book marketplace, online food ordering, and more.

develop our app with the aid of Google's CodeLabs, which are so
