Monitoring own activity
1. .3.4 Monitoring my own creative activity
19th November: Investigating Artefact (PowerPoint)
On this day, we started researching on artefact to find information for
the PowerPoint on Artefact. I researched on what is Artefact on Google
and I found out that Artefact is an object modified or made by man. I
then went on researching about what types of artefact are there. I found
out that Artefact can be a stone, wood, clay and other natural materials.
I put all the information I found about Artefact and save it on a word
document so that I know where to look if I have started making my
PowerPoint.
My strength: My strength in this lesson was that I was independent in
doing my research and find different ways to found out information on
the Internet or in books
1st December: Investigating Artefacts (PowerPoint)
I continued researching on Artefact. I research on the artists we will be studying –Grayson Perry
(Clay Pots)- Michael Raedecker (Paintings)- Wafa Hourani (Building)- Elizabeth Le Court
(Costume).
When I finished researching the artists and the artefact they make, I started making a PowerPoint base
on the information I found while researching and my understanding to what artefact is.
My strength in this lesson is that I concentrated in finding the right information from the search
engine and I make sure that the information that I have found is correct. I done this by asking my
teacher and the student in my class on what information they found and it seems that everyone have
the same similar information about the artists and their artefacts.
3rd December: Investigating Artefacts (PowerPoint)
I researched on how artefacts affect the media industry (Visual Art and Theatre industry). All the
information that I found out while researching was put together in a presentation called what is
Artefact... After adding all the information on the slides, I decorated the slides because the
information on each slides are different. After completing the artefact I spelled checked it to make
sure all the information are well spelled and I proof read it to see if there was any information I
missed out.
My strength in this lesson is that I organised the information I found into a PowerPoint, this shows
that I am well organised and consistent in the work I am doing.
10th December: Investigating Grayson Perry
The first artefact we would be making in class was a clay pot. The lesson was about researching the
kinds of clay pot Grayson Perry does.
2. My strength in this lesson is that I continued to research on Grayson Perry even though I have
information about his work already.
15th December: Making Clay tile
In this lesson we went outside to the playground and we have to scrape a pencil colour on a paper
when we found different types of tile that was interesting. This activity was done so that we
understand that there are different type’s textures and we then made a clay tile so that we learn how to
use the clay.
My strength in this lesson was that I was being creative in what textures I choose to print on paper and
I was independent the whole time in the lesson.
17th December: Making plan for clay pot
We were planning the type of clay pot we would like to do; small clay pot. Wide clay pot, medium
clay pot... We were giving paper work to do to help us guide our plan for small clay pot.
My strength in this lesson was that I was creative in planning my sample clay pot independently.
7th January: Making sample pot
We started a clay pot and we were told that it as to be small. When making the small clay pot it was
difficult because I didn’t know what skills that was required while making clay pot. I asked my
teacher of the skills that was required and she gave everyone a guide of how to make a clay pot.
Making clay pot wasn’t easy at first but I got used to it because every time my pot falls down I learn
something new and I improved on it every time I do my small clay pot.
My strength in this lesson was that I developed in the skills that required making a small clay pot.
This shows that I keep learning different types of skills I am not aware of.
12th January: completing clay pot experiments
After finishing the sample clay pot we had to decorate it. Getting the equipment was easy and putting
it on was even easier because the plan that we made in the beginning was helpful and it guide me on
making the decoration on the sample same clay pot.
The material I used was tissue paper, newspaper and tracing paper. I used tissue paper the most
because it gives a good effect on the sample small clay pot.
My strength in this lesson was that I was organised in getting my equipment that I need for the
decoration of the sample clay pot.
14th January: Investigating Michael Raedecker, planning painting
I planned my painting on the worksheet giving to us in class. I also analyse some of his painting. And
we were giving a choice to choose what painting we would like to look at and draw.
3. My strength in this lesson was that I was organised in planning my painting and analysing the artist
work this shows that I was independent.
21st January: Developing painting
We started to draw our own type of painting but before that we had to do a little story of what our
painting is about and what style we will like to use in the painting. We work on the painting base on
our story.
My strength in this lesson was that I was independent in doing my own work and not gets to
distracted in class.
26th January: Investigating Wafa Hourani
After finishing on paintings, we moved on to buildings.
I looked at Wafa Hourani on what types of building he makes and I analysed at least 2 of his work.
We looked at the different kinds of artefact (building) he makes and we chose what building we liked
the most and analyse it. I also researched on his background information to give me the idea of how
he got inspired to make the type of building he makes.
All the research I have done would be useful in creating my artefact because it will give me some kind
of idea on how to make my building with the group am working with.
My strength in this lesson was that I was reflecting on my research and being independent in carrying
out research.
29th January: Developing building
When the researches are done, my group started to make plans of how we want our building to look
like. But making the plan wasn’t as easy as we thought because we have to decide on a theme to work
on. We finally decide to make the building to represent things such as: sweet shop, shoe shop. Phone
and so on. After making our plan, we decide that everyone in my group should choose what building
they will like to make.
My strength in this lesson was that I was an effective participator in deciding what my group wants to
do how we can achieve that.
4th February: Developing building
When my group started making the building, it was an absolutely madness because we had to measure
the square we were going to work on and we had to cut out pieces of pieces of extra cardboard just in
case we don’t have enough cardboard. This lesson was mainly about measuring and cutting out
cardboard that we would need to make our building. Although this lesson was stressful at first, I
enjoyed myself nevertheless because everyone in my group works together as a team.
My strength in this lesson was that I was a part of a team worker in reaching the goals we set our
selves while doing our work.
9th February: Developing building
After finishing my measurement, I started to adjust my measurement together. Putting together pieces
of cardboard is not an easy task at all. Nevertheless I focused on putting together the building I was
4. making even though they intend to keep breaking down, but my group didn’t give up. We set our self
a goal to complete the building in that lesson and fortunately we achieve that goal.
My strength in this lesson was working in a group though I have my own work to do I helped any of
the student in my group that was stuck or unsure of what they need to do.
11th February: Developing building
My group completed their own individual building. In this lesson we adjust all our individual building
together and start decorating them. We all worked very hard in completing the building.
My strength in this lesson was that I helped my group in completing the building and I achieved a
goal that was set in the beginning, which was that we would stay together no matter the circumstances
and work and help each other.
25th February: Investigating Costumes
This lesson was about researching on Elizabeth Le Court and the work she does which would be
costume. We analysed some of her work and we looked at her work and we had to practise making a
costume before we make the real costume for our artefact. I also plan how I want my artefact costume
to look like.
My strength in this lesson was that I was independent in carrying out research and analysing her work
and planning my own work.
16th March: Developing Costumes
I made my costume base on my plan that I did in the lesson before.
My strength in this lesson was finding making the costume easy and It shows that I am creative and a
very in what I do.
18th March: Developing Final Ideas
This lesson was about recapping on the entire artefact (Sample Clay Pot, Paintings, Building and
Costume) that we have made and making a decision in what artefact we found challenging and
intriguing. We choose Clay pot because we all decided that it is the most challenging of the entire
artefact that we have done and it require a lot more skills than any other artefact.
My strength in this lesson was that I participate in making the decision for the final artefact.
25th March: Making Final Artefact
This lesson was about planning the big clay pot and analysing the type of clay pot I would like to do
(the sixe, shape colour, materials and so on…)
My strength in this lesson was that I was being creative in analysing the type of clay pot I would like
to do.
30th March: Making Final Artefact
5. I started and completed the big clay pot. Making the clay pot was more difficult this time as it was a
lot bigger then the one I have done before.
My strength in this lesson was being able to finish this big clay pot in a limited time.
1st April: Making final artefact
This lesson was about getting the equipment and the material for the decoration of the clay pot for
next lesson, also researching on the computer and looking at books for any sort of picture that gives
me idea of what I am going to do on my pot.
My strength in this lesson was being able to use my researching skills to be able to complete my final
artefact next lesson.
22nd April: Completing Artefact
Today I have started and completed decorating my clay pot with my research that I have found last
lesson on the Internet, and in the books.
While decorating my Big Clay Pot I used a lot of pictures and map pictures to contrast my sample
small clay pot.
My strength in this lesson was to be able to achieve a goal of completing my big clay pot.
27th April: Completing any work
This lesson was about completing all the evaluations and self-assessment of the entire artefact we
have done including the final artefact.
My strength in this lesson was that I was able to reflect on all my work and improve it and also I was
being able to self manage myself in working towards criticism of when I was self-assessing my work.
29th April: Developing and refining work
Today was about catching up on any work sheet that I might have missed during the lesson that the
worksheet was set, and also done my evaluation on my final artefact.
My strength in this lesson was reflecting on my work and to be able to complete my work on time.
