I created this Augmented Reality video wall for Learning 2018 as a way
to gather and demonstrate a number of different short videos I
created for an internal audience.
When viewed with the HP Reveal app, each image triggers a video to
play in AR, allowing users to peruse a video gallery to explore the
styles and tools used to create them.
I also shared a few of these videos in the session below.

What Is This?
This Augmented Reality Video Gallery is a collection of videos
that we have used at PTC as part of internal awareness and
reinforcement campaigns.
What Are The Videos?
The videos were all part of communication campaigns used to
advertise, explain, or reinforce learning.
All under 3 minutes, they are in several different formats and
styles. All of the videos were solo efforts, though several build
on top of work, like a sales presentation, authored by a
colleague.

Follow the setup instructions on the SETUP card.

Download
App & Login
Download the HP Reveal app to your phone
or tablet from your App Store.
Log in using the username and password
you created above.
Drag down to refresh the list.
(You should see images like these cards.)
View
Videos in
Augmented
Reality
Select the HP Reveal app’s
viewfinder.
Point your camera at the images to the right
to launch an AR video.
SETUP
Audio
Please be considerate of others and use earbuds or headphones
to experience the gallery if others are around.
If you do not have earbuds, all of the videos created with the
Tools: Biteable have no audio narration. They display text on
screen and make for the best AR experience if your phone is
muted.
The non-Biteable videos are narrated, and to get the full
experience, it’s most impactful if you can listen to the talk track.
Troubleshooting
To check if your HP Reveal app setup is successful:
1. In the HP Reveal app, click the profile icon in the upper left,
then click the Following tab.
2. It should show Adrian.Lasala’s Private Auras as shown in the
image to the left.
3. If not, be sure you are logged in and Following the account
as described on the Setup page above.
FOR BEST
RESULTS
The Explainer Video
Used extensively in marketing products and services, these
short videos are designed to be about 1 - 3 minutes and
typically follow a pattern along the lines
of: problem > solution > benefits > call to action.
Their objective is simple - to build enough interest that you
want to know more - to intrinsically motivate you to respond to
the call to action.
They can be used to advertise courses or remind and reinforce
key concepts behind the value of a course or session.

These videos put text to the screen, taking standard
statements, like an elevator pitch, and transforming them into
text-based video to bring new life to the message.

Photo Montages
Made up of photos animated within a video, photo montages
are much easier to create and edit than trying to piece
together video clips.
Because they are built from real photos of real people and
events in your org, they are much more personal and authentic
than those built from generic video clips.
Recognition Videos
Recognition videos that share a story or celebrate someone for
an accomplishment are a powerful tool you can use to share
stories of those whose behaviors changed because of your
learning activities.

The Testimonial Video
A testimonial video tells the story of an event that happened.
Because it is a true story told in the voice of someone who
experienced an event and its benefits, it’s a great way to help
people connect to a real event, synopsize something that can
take a long time to unfold, and most importantly, prove that a
statement, like a value prop, is true.
The Whiteboard Video
Whiteboard videos are "hand-drawn" videos that illustrate
what is being narrated through audio. They enable us to bring
a story to life through animation, reinforcing key messages
with compelling visualizations, all while share the authentic
voice of the narrator.

Though most of these are written as if they were customer-
facing, it's important to note that they are all internal-facing,
DIY, videos.
They not quite brand-compliant, nor are they a professional,
polished, production.
Why Do They Work?
• A Tight Message - With few words available to get your
message across, part of the reason these formats work is
that you have to boil down the message to the most
fundamental concepts.
• Clarifying Visuals - We can process information visually much
faster than we can audibly. The graphics and animations
reinforce and expand upon the message helping our
audience visualize the message and its value.

The Technology
• HP Reveal – Use any image as a trigger that can launch an
image, video, or 3D AR experience.
• PowerPoint – Great for animation, it also has recording and
export-to-mp4 capabilities in O365.
• Camtasia – Great for screen recording, it can augment a
recorded PowerPoint or even be used to create original
animations.
• Biteable – An online service that let’s you stitch together
your own text with video clips and pre-created scenes.
• Videoscribe – A great tool for creating whiteboard
animations out of vector graphics.

Accent Color Slide Options I created this Augmented Reality video wall for Learning 2018 as a way to gather and demonstrate a number of different short videos I created for an internal audience. When viewed with the HP Reveal app, each image triggers a video to play in AR, allowing users to peruse a video gallery to explore the styles and tools used to create them. I also shared a few of these videos in the session below.

  • 9. What Is This? This Augmented Reality Video Gallery is a collection of videos that we have used at PTC as part of internal awareness and reinforcement campaigns. What Are The Videos? The videos were all part of communication campaigns used to advertise, explain, or reinforce learning. All under 3 minutes, they are in several different formats and styles. All of the videos were solo efforts, though several build on top of work, like a sales presentation, authored by a colleague. To Explore the Videos Follow the setup instructions on the SETUP card.   • 10. Create Account & Follow My Channel Go here: http://auras.ma/s/SAdgJ Click the Follow button. Create an HP Reveal Account. Download App & Login Download the HP Reveal app to your phone or tablet from your App Store. Log in using the username and password you created above. Drag down to refresh the list. (You should see images like these cards.) View Videos in Augmented Reality Select the HP Reveal app’s viewfinder. Point your camera at the images to the right to launch an AR video. SETUP
  • 11. Audio Please be considerate of others and use earbuds or headphones to experience the gallery if others are around. If you do not have earbuds, all of the videos created with the Tools: Biteable have no audio narration. They display text on screen and make for the best AR experience if your phone is muted. The non-Biteable videos are narrated, and to get the full experience, it’s most impactful if you can listen to the talk track. Troubleshooting To check if your HP Reveal app setup is successful: 1. In the HP Reveal app, click the profile icon in the upper left, then click the Following tab. 2. It should show Adrian.Lasala’s Private Auras as shown in the image to the left. 3. If not, be sure you are logged in and Following the account as described on the Setup page above. FOR BEST RESULTS

The Explainer Video Used extensively in marketing products and services, these short videos are designed to be about 1 - 3 minutes and typically follow a pattern along the lines of: problem > solution > benefits > call to action. Their objective is simple - to build enough interest that you want to know more - to intrinsically motivate you to respond to the call to action. Because they are built from real photos of real people and events in your org, they are much more personal and authentic than those built from generic video clips. They not quite brand-compliant, nor are they a professional, polished, production. Why Do They Work? • A Tight Message - With few words available to get your message across, part of the reason these formats work is that you have to boil down the message to the most fundamental concepts. • Clarifying Visuals - We can process information visually much faster than we can audibly. The Technology • HP Reveal – Use any image as a trigger that can launch an image, video, or 3D AR experience. • PowerPoint – Great for animation, it also has recording and export-to-mp4 capabilities in O365. • Camtasia – Great for screen recording, it can augment a recorded PowerPoint or even be used to create original animations. • Biteable – An online service that let’s you stitch together your own text with video clips and pre-created scenes. • Videoscribe – A great tool for creating whiteboard animations out of vector graphics.
