2. Plan B Presents:
This isn’t really a production company but it has created a independent film that is of a similar genre to what I
want to create which is a crime drama. There has only been one film from Ben Drew (Plan B) and it is ‘Ill
Manors’ which was released in 2012, it was written and directed by Plan B and produced by Aimimage
Productions and BBC Films, Plan B even created the soundtrack to the film and it became his 2nd number 1
album.
This film follows the lives of four drug dealers, one user and two prostitutes and is meant to
reflect what life in London is actually like. The film cost £100,000 to make and made
£453,570 in the UK box office, for a first ever film written and directed by Plan B the
statistics look promising but it may be because he already had a following from a successful
music career.
The company that produced this, Aimimage, has no details on the internet so I currently do
not know anything about this company other than it’s a UK company and they have
produced other films but I have not heard of any of them so it shows that it must be
through BBC films. But this is a good example of an independent crime drama film which is
what I would want to create.
3. Working Title
The working title company is a strange one. It initially started off as and independent
company with backing from PolyGram from 1992 and it started to become a major
competitor for Hollywood companies so it was then folded into Universal Studios in
1999 and is still parented by Universal Studios today and it has grown to be a big
success creating very successful films such as Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting
Hill and Pride and Prejudice.
This company is a very unique example of a company that started out small and has
grew to be a huge success with Four weddings turning a profit of around £250 million
which is just one example of a successful film created by them.
