Much of the “common sense” wisdom that so-called “experts” and SEO gurus share about traffic building in the modern era is, at best, flawed… and at worst, just flat out bullshit.
As an example, has anyone ever told you that “the secret to building a loyal blog readership is to regularly update your blog with engaging content each and every week?”
That couldn’t be MORE WRONG.
I’ve already debunked this myth on several occasions.
You can read more about it on my blog. The real secrets mostly circle around the 80/20 rule of content marketing – you need to focus 80% of your time on content promotion and 20% on content creation.
You see, many of these “SEO experts” who continuously dish out flawed advice fall into one of two categories:
They are either…
A) Experts who built their authority – and readership – back in the day. Back when there was almost ZERO competition. Back when it was EASY to generate web traffic and even easier to build an email list.
B) Experts who try to “fake it til they make it” by sharing tips and tools they “think” are right, but they aren’t sure.
That’s why their advice sucks.
They don’t know what they’re doing in TODAY’s overcrowded marketplace. And they’re costing you a LOT of hard-earned money… your precious time on Earth… and YOUR SUCCESS while on it.
But that’s why we’ve gathered here today.
2. If you're looking to attract 5k or 10k new visitors to your blog or
website, my first question is:
Do any of the following sound familiar?
I've damn near worked myself to death creating content, and
nothing is happening. I might as well be working for free.
I've tried posting to my blog several times a week, commenting
on blogs of my peers, guest posting, and pretty much everything
else. None of it is working.
I have no friggin' idea how to even get started with attracting
visitors to my blog or website - much less building my email list. I
write a ton of unique posts, but the traffic is barely even trickling
into my site.
"Someone copied my content and it's ranking higher than mine!"
"Can I get traffic to my site by copying content from other
websites? Will it hurt my SEO and rankings?"

Competitors in Google
Using Their Best Content
3. Sound familiar?
If you said "Yes" to any of the above, block out 15 minutes and read this
entire blog post. Because it is NOT your fault.
Here's the truth:
Much of the "common sense" wisdom that so-called "experts" and SEO

But that's why we've gathered here today.
You want to learn my strategies for
outranking peers in Google and generating
thousands of visitors
You know I can deliver... I'm Joey Barker, Co-Founder and CEO of Unfunnel.
Among Linkedin's top 15 "Milennials on the Move" for Marketing in 2016,
I've got a proven track rec0rd of building online businesses and blogs up
from ZERO to over 29,000 subscribers in just under a year.
After spending my 20s consulting a Who's Who of Fortune 500
companies, including FedEx AutoZone, St.
Jude, Caesars Entertainment, World Series of Poker and many others...
I built a host of startup coaching programs blog from scratch to almost
hit 7 million hits as of today.
I then built an Ecommerce business to record-breaking traffic heights
Finally, I ended up with Unfunnel, which you probably heard we built
from scratch in late 2015 to more than 29,000 subscribers just a little
over a year later
And I want to “pull back the curtain” to reveal some of themost effective
SEO strategies I’ve ever used... period.
5. I’ve got a quick story for you
Back when I worked for a Fortune 100 company, the CMO retired and they
appointed a brand-new CMO.
I asked one of my colleagues, “How do you think he landed that job? He’s so
young.” (He was like 40 at the time).
They said, “He’s real smart. He processes information so fast.” “Wow - dude
is like a computer,” I thought.
But then I asked another colleague, a colleague who wasn’t friends and
didn’t know the other person I asked. I asked them “How do you think he
landed that job? He’s so young.”
And that’s when they said, “He processes information so fast.”
WHAT?
I’ve never heard this in my life, and now I heard two separate people say
the same exact thing.
So I went on a little “rampage.” I started asking everyone I knew. “How do
you think he got the job?” And almost everyone said, “He processes
information so fast.”
At the time, my brain was like 2+2 = ERROR.
Why this is so important
But since this complete misunderstanding of how Google ranks content has
only continued to spawn inquiries like these across the web over the last
few months, I'm going to extend a well-informed olive branch to anyone
seeking advice on this topic.
6. In this ebook, I'll address not only how it's possible to outrank competitors
for their own content - their best content, actually - but we'll also covers a
few techniques for how you can do it consistently (and why you should) ...
After reading this guide, you will know how to:
Find any niche competitor's highest ranking keywords in 20 minutes or
less
Find (and leverage) the best performing content on any niche
competitor's
See the authoritative sites linking back to your competitor's best content
- and how to use those channels to your advantage
Create BETTER content using multiple resources and being more fresh,
up-to-date and shareable than your competition
Create content that (almost) always ranks in the top 10 of Google search
within 30 days - for up to 100 keywords in some cases
Outrank your competition in Google by simply "one-upping" your
competitors via Agile Marketing
Ready to get started?
Great.
First off, the easy answer that other gurus may not like to Black Hat Billy's
question above?
"Can I get traffic to my site by copying content from other
websites? Will it hurt my SEO and rankings? "
MY ANSWER...
Of Course You Can!
7. In fact, you'd better already be doing this (or some form of it). Maybe not
"copying" verbatim... but stealing like an artist is agile - this method builds
better ideas, better content and better solutions.
What is an idea - at least a good one - if nothing but a collection of those
great ideas and great content that came before…each of which informed
it? What is content creation other than a building block for new content
and better insights to follow it?
EVERY idea we have is fed by information someone else taught us... and if
good, it will be used by its listeners to build a better idea (hopefully).
And NO, if done correctly, it will not hurt your rankings - nor will it be
considered to be the all-feared Bigfoot of online business known as
“duplicate content” by SERPs, not if done correctly...
OPTION 1 - THE SKYSCRAPER TECHNIQUE
Grab The FREE Guide »
Finding it increasingly difficult to capture the attention of your target
audience? Can't seem to deliver on their expectations?
Free downloadable PDF checklist: How to get higher rankings with The
Skyscraper Technique
Well no shit...
In the modern digital landscape, market competition is heating up.
As a result, marketers are getting more creative, experimenting with new
channels and tactics and rapidly evolving their approach to bringing in
targeted new customers.
From listicles to infographics to slideshares to video marketing, those who
take action to find which types of content best resonate with their audience
are coming out on top.
8. What can you do to stay in the game? Try the Skyscraper Technique.
Brian Dean's original "Skyscraper Technique" for Link Building was an
instant hit with SEOs and content marketers over the last year.
If you're not aware of this by now, you can learn all about it from Brian
himself at Backlinko.com - but for the sake of time and your attention span,
here's the summary of the Skyscraper Technique:
1. Find some piece of link-worthy, relevant content in your niche market
2. Make something that blows the original piece of content out the friggin'
water
3. Reach out to the right people (influencer marketing) to promote your
content
This content marketing technique works (and it works very well).
But the truth is...
If you're just starting out, or you don't already have a size-able email list or
influencer network - your blog simply doesn't have the authority to leverage
the full power of the Skyscraper Technique.
And you'll probably struggle to rank for any specific keyword - no matter
how high your "skyscraper" might be.

9. OPTION 2 - The "Judo Method"
Here’s how to execute "The Judo Method" - a technique most content
marketers do in nearly every popular article or blog published online…
Use SEO tools like BuzzSumo to find ANY website, blog or topic’s most
popular content on the web (video tutorial)
Use AHrefs and SEMrush to analyze backlinks, keywords and domain
referrals for each page on your competitor's website
Curate a TON of content for any topic -ESPECIALLY “list posts” and
interview posts that are popular in any niche (if you need a template on
this style of publishing - here’s a good one)
Credit where necessary, of course, but DO NOT link externally unless
required to do so
Make a BIGGER list than those you curated from collectively - call it the
“Ultimate Guide To _____” or similar title / headline / subject line
Spread FAR and WIDE across every channel you can find →Good Source
for Channels and Great Source For Influencer Outreach)
Write unique introductory and closing paragraphs
Turn the article into Slide Deck, Infographic or Ebook
Add call-to-action images showing the ebook cover or infographic tease
to the top right and bottom center of the blog post/article - offering the
visitor to “skip the article and download the free ebook” or similar action
10. The visitors who do NOT read the entire blog post, article, etc. (which will
be MOST of them - nearly all, in fact) will click on the lead magnet and
skip the article… view the ebook on another page with almost the same
title, download and land on a thank you page that even more so will
strengthen your keyword rankings via more pages, deeper engagement
and calls to action those before didn’t utilize
If you have a product, upsell immediately on a “bonus sandwich” page
between the lead gen landing page and the thank you page - making
your product’s keyword rankings also strengthen
If done correctly, you will outrank nearly anyone for a specific niche topic
online… and you may even land some high-traffic wins after you hit page
one in 3–5 days.
How do I know this?
I’ve done it for nearly all ofmy blog’s top 100 most clicked keywords - 97 of
which are top 10 in Google and Bing search results - and have been for
quite a while…

Now, with that being said…
WARNING: Please do not mistake this as just openly ripping someone’s
entire blog post, ebook, product, podcast episode or training word-for-word.
Taking intellectually property IS ILLEGAL - and even worse, your effort will
likely only get you ranking for exactly what you steal (i.e., the original
author will be one of your first, definitely your most frequent and most
engaged visitor due to their inspection with legal counsel of how far you
theft went).
It takes just as long to illegally rip content and do it wrong as it does in the
11. 10-step formula above - ONLY it will get you in legal trouble AND Google
will not even acknowledge your effort.
No - you do not need original content… NOT AT ALL.
Ask Hubspot, Pat Flynn or any other marketing blog that some other people
answering you likely read - not knowing that 99% of their SEO or content
marketing teachers never publish an original blog post - or at least haven’t
in recent memory.
But they’ll tell you to… because it will bog you down. Stay on course - but if
you’re going to rip ideas from others - DO IT RIGHT by making it one
collectively bigger (and more authoritative) idea in itself.
