Jeremy Casson - How Painstaking Restoration Has Revealed the Beauty of an Imp...
Moodboard!
1. Images are quite often taken of
players challenging for the ball as this
shows determination and strength.
These usually make good shots as
there is a lot going on and it makes
the reader pay attention.
The photographs are taken
to show the background as
well as the players because
the location and conditions
often make good images,
such as a wet, cold evening.
The images when taken are
used on a variety of
Medias, the main ones
being newspapers where
they are found at the back
pages. The images can be
posted on social network
sites such as twitter or on
the newspapers website.
Some images taken may be
controversial and therefore
spoke about on the Radio
or television such as
gestures made.
The photographer has to set a quick
shutter speed for the images as
having movement in the picture is
always a very good sign of
professionalism. Such as the image
below where the goalkeeper has
been captured diving for the ball.
A telephoto lens is used
to capture the shots
from far away and get
close ups on players
such as the one above.
It captures the facial
expressions of the
players.
Keeping the camera still when taking the
images or even filming footage is
important, this makes sure the shot you
want is not hindered by events around
you. Having a tripod is a good way of
cementing your position and making sure
the images are of the quality you set
yourself.
The image on the left is seen as a good
shot because it has been taken from a
long camera angle, looking up. Therefore
portraying the player as bigger, this will
go hand in hand with the close control
and agility needed for that movement.
This also displays facial features that are
good to have, that of the player with the
ball, in complete focus and that of
admiration from the competing player.
These shots are thought
about in the images I
have taken because I
have tried to use all the
techniques as well as
the professionalism
treating them as
normal images for a
newspaper. I have tried
to make sure
movement, facial
expressions and
different angles were
used to add variety and
keep the viewer of the
images keen to keep
looking.
