1. Lieutenant Colonel Albert E. Smith is the Deputy Commander,
380th Expeditionary Maintenance Group, 380th Air Expeditionary
Wing, Southwest Asia. The group is comprised of two squadrons
with over 900 personnel maintaining 49 fighter, tanker, and ISR
aircraft. Airmen of the 380th EMXG support the Wing’s theater
security, air supremacy, ground attack, air refueling, airlift,
reconnaissance, airborne control, and various other missions.
Lt Col Smith entered active duty in 1997, after graduating from the
New York Institute of Technology where he received his
commission as an Air Force ROTC cadet. His past positions
include the Air Staff, AFSOC Staff, squadron command, and
numerous base-level maintenance officer positions. He has been
assigned to four major commands and has deployed in support of
Operations, SOUTHERN WATCH and ENDURING FREEDOM.
