Project proposal title and date: social media in Sports

Main area of activity
Fanzine
Target Audience: I feel like I have refined my target audience of 16–24-year-olds because
my chosen topic is one that can easily fit that age group selected. Sport is rather popular
among that age group but this group also fit in with the social media side of what I am
going for in the fanzine I will be creating. Social media is a major part in the lives of this age
group so I wanted to combine two major parts of society in this day and age.
Rationale: So far this year I have been trying to re learn the skills I learnt last year all while
trying to develop those but also new ones so I can create more detailed products and really
show a new level to my work.
My FMP last year I felt I did the middle ground in terms of detail because I hadn’t ever used
photoshop or created anything like that so I felt I did the best I could throughout the year I
had of learning new skills while been in lockdown and having to adapt with every given
moment.
I feel the FMP last year will certainly help me this year because those old skills I have can
help me build a base block so I have some detail then find new ones and extend and push
my work to new levels and really show I’m learning and have another level.
Project Concept: I am going to be creating a fanzine about social media and how it’s
negatives such as racism and online abuse can majorly affect the players, mood in grounds
and just how the game is played and how results are dealt with. My inspiration for this was
seeing how some ‘fans’ took England’s heart-breaking loss in the Euro 2020 final to Italy
and how 3 players suffered awful and unacceptable racist abuse.
I am going to research the positives and negatives of social media; how much social media
affects sport and its role in it. How players try to deal with it and the effects they suffer from
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed?
I plan to evaluate every little step I take along the working journey to make sure everything
bit of research, every experiment, every mistake, every positive and new skills is
documented and I can see just how far I came from beginning to end after the evaluation is
complete.
