Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in northeastern Wales is the longest and highest cast-iron aqueduct in the world at 1000 feet long and 125 feet high. It was designed by Thomas Telford and built between 1805-1806, making him famous as the greatest builder of iron bridges and canals of his time. The aqueduct underwent a complete renovation between 2003-2004 to preserve this historic structure.
