Nigeria’s last election was dubbed the “Facebook
election” won by Goodluck Jonathan by 25 % of
the vote ! He made us of Facebook and Twitter to
reach the younger target audience.
New applications were developed for cell phones
allowing people to communicate directly with
him and get the latest election news on their
phones. Apps were also developed to allow all
individuals to be election observers to ensure a
free and fair election.

stage revolts against dictators. Social networks
are driving democracy in Africa.
