19. Kwai / Kuaishou – Build the Living System on Alibaba Cloud
This is a typical CDN
living system with
two major parts:
one is the living
center, another is the
CDN network.
20. Why Kwai does NOT use the CDN living center, instead of building their own living center system?
In Internet, EVERYTHING is defined by the user experience.
By building the living center, Kwai can gain better controllability over the end-to-end user experience.
1. The user experience monitoring platform can better equipped to smartly monitor the audio/video data transmit
in real-time mode.
2. Instead of the RTMP protocol based on TCP, Kwai utilizes the private protocol based on UDP, to achieve
better audio/video data transmit to weak networking environment.
3. Better schedule the living stream among CDN vendors.

21. What kind of workloads does
the system support?
CPU workload & Networking
workload:
Among all the Alibaba Cloud
ECS instance type, the Skylake
series CPU is the best choice,
e.g. hfc5
• Intel Xeon Gold 6149
(Skylake) w/i 3.1GHz
• CPU : RAM ratio is 1:2
• 16Gbps internal networking
w/i 32vCPU
