K2, also known as Mount Godwin-Austen or
Chhogori (Balti: چھوغوری is the second highest
mountain in the world, after Mount Everest, at
8,611 metres (28,251 ft) above sea level. It is
located on the China-Pakistan border between
Baltistan, in the Gilgit-Baltistan portion of Kashmir
under the administration of Pakistan, and the
Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County of Xinjiang,
China. K2 is the highest point of the Karakoram
range and the highest point in both Kashmir and
Xinjiang.
9. Nanga Parbat
Nanga Parbat (literally; Naked Mountain in
Urdu) also known as Killer Mountain is the 9th
highest mountain on Earth. Nanga Parbat is one
of the eight-thousanders, with a summit
elevation of 8,126 meters (26,660 ft). An
immensely, dramatic peak that rises far above
its surroundings. It has three faces, Diamir face
(West), Rakhiot (North) and Rupal (South).
13. Gasherbrum (K5)
Also known as Hidden Peak or K5, is the 11th
highest peak on Earth, located on the Pakistan
China Border in Gilgit Baltistan Region. It is part of
the Gasherbrum Massif. Gasherbrum comes from
"gasha" (beautiful) "brum" (mountain) in Balti,
means located in the Karakoram "beautiful
mountain." In 1865, Gasherbrum I was designated
K5 (meaning the 5th peak of the Karakoram by T.G.
Montgomery. Later in 1892, William Martin Conway
named it Hidden Peak
15. Gasherbrum II (K4)
Gasherbrum II also known as K4, is the 13th
highest mountain on Earth, located on the
border of Gilgit Baltistan region and Xinjiang. At
8,035 meters (26,362 feet), Gasherbrum II is the
second highest peak of the Gasherbrum Massif,
located in the Karakoram Range.
17. Broad Peak
It is the 12th highest mountain on Earth, with an
elevation of 8,051 meters (26,414 feet). It is
located about 8 kilometers from K2. It has a
summit over 1.5 kilometers long, thus it is
known as "Broad Peak
21. Masherbrum
Also known as K1 is, 7,821 meters (25,659 ft) high.
It is the 22nd highest mountain in the world and the
9th highest in Pakistan. It was the first scaled and
mapped peak in the Karakoram Range. Name
"Masherbrum" is from masha (queen or lady),
meaning "queen of peaks." It is a large and striking
peak, which is somewhat overshadowed by 8,000
meters (26,000 ft) high peaks of the main
Karakoram Range which include K2, Gasherbrum I,
Broad Peak and Gasherbrum I
23. Rakaposhi
• It is situated in the Nagar Valley pproximately
100 kilometers North of Gilgit City. Rakaposhi
means "Snow Covered" in the local language.
Rakaposhi is also known as Dumani "Mother
of Mist". It is ranked 27th world and 12th
highest in Pakistan.
28. Trango Towers
The Trango Towers are a group of dramatic
granite spires located on the North of Baltoro
Glacier. The Towers offer some of the largest
cliffs and most challenging rock climbing in the
world. The highest point in the group is the
summit of Great Trango Towers at 6,286 meters
(20,608 feet). The East face of the Great Trango
Towers features the world's greatest nearly
vertical drop
