What is theme ?
A theme is a set of design elements you can apply to slides
in your presentation. Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 includes 20
carefully crafted themes you can use to give your
PowerPoint presentations a professional look. Each theme
includes these basic components:
 Colors: Four colors to use for text or backgrounds and six
accent colors.
 Fonts: A heading font and a regular text font.
 Background styles: Background colors and effects such as
patterns or gradient fills.
 Design effects: A set of elements such as bullet and line
styles.

To apply a theme
 To apply a theme to an entire presentation, click the theme in the
Themes group on the Design tab. If the theme you want isn’t visible, scroll
to display it. Click the down arrow in the Theme gallery to display an
expanded themes list.
 To apply a theme to specific slide(s), select the slide(s), right-click the
theme, and choose Apply to Selected Slides.

Add A Picture Watermark

Within your presentation, click the slide that you want to
add a watermark to. To add a watermark to all of the slides
in a blank presentation, on the View tab, in the
Presentations Views group, click Slide Master.
On the Insert tab, within the Illustrations group, do one of
the following.
a) To use a picture as a watermark, click Picture, locate the
picture that you want, and then click Insert.
b) To use clip art as a watermark, click Clip Art. In the Clip Art
task pane, in the Search for box, either type a word or phrase
that describes the clip that you want, or type all or part of the
file name of the clip, and then click Go.
To send the watermark to the back of the slide, under
Picture Tools, on the Format tab, in the Arrange group,
click Send to Back.
Use color as a background
Click the slide or slides that you want to add a solid color background
to.
To select multiple slides, click the first slide, and then press and hold
CTRL while you click the other slides.
On the Design tab, in the Background group, click the arrow next
to Background Styles.
Click Format Background.
Under Fill, select Solid fill, and then choose the background color and
transparency that you want.
Do one of the following:
To use this background for the slides that you selected,
click Close.
To use this background for all of the slides in your presentation,
click Apply to All.
Use Pictures As a Slide Background
1. Select the slide for which you want to change the
background.
2. On the design tab, in the background group, click
background styles.
3. Click format background.
4. Click fill.
5. Click picture or texture fill.
6. Click file, locate and double click the picture you want
to use as the background.
7. Click close.

Grouping Shapes , Pictures & Objects
 To work faster we can group shapes , pictures and other
objects such as a table , charts , graphics , equation or
any other form of information .
 Grouping lets us flip , rotate , move or resize all shapes or
objects at the same time as though they were a single
group or object .

Step 1 - Choose all the objects that you want to include in the group .

Step 2 - Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Arrange group, click Group,
and then click Group.

Ungroup shapes, pictures,
or objects
To ungroup a group of shapes, pictures or other objects. For
example - If we want to move a group but leave one object
behind or make extensive changes to one shape without
changing the other shapes.

To ungroup a group of shapes, pictures, or other objects (for example, if
you want to move a group but leave one shape behind or make
extensive changes to one shape without changing the other shapes),
do the following:
1. Select the group that you want to ungroup.
2. Do one of the following:
 To ungroup shapes or other objects, under Drawing Tools, on
the Format tab, in the Arrange group, click Group , and then
click Ungroup .

 To ungroup pictures, under Picture Tools, on the Format tab,
in the Arrange group, click , and then click Ungroup.

Regroup shapes or objects
 Select any one of the shapes or objects that were previously in a group.
 If you converted your SmartArt graphic to individual shapes, it is not
possible to convert them back to a SmartArt graphic or to regroup them.
 Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Arrange group,
click Group, and then click Regroup.

Rehearsal And Time Delivery Of A
Presentation
You can rehearse your presentation to make sure that it
fits within a certain time frame. While you rehearse, use the
Slide Timing feature to record the time that you need to
present each slide, and then use the recorded times to
advance the slides automatically when you give your
presentation to your actual audience.

1. On the Slide Show tab, in the Set Up group, click Rehearse Timings.
2. The Rehearsal toolbar appears, and the Slide Time box begins timing
the presentation.

2. While you time your presentation, do one or more of the following on
the Rehearsal toolbar:
 To move to the next slide, click Next.
 To temporarily stop recording the time, click Pause.
 To restart recording the time after pausing, click Pause.
 To restart recording the time for the current slide, click Repeat.
3. After you set the time for the last slide, a message box displays the total
time for the presentation and prompts you to do one of the following:
 To keep the recorded slide timings, click Yes.
 To discard the recorded slide timings, click No.

Slide Transitions
Slide transitions are the animation-like effects that occur in
Slide Show view when you move from one slide to the next
during an on-screen presentation. You can control the
speed of each slide transition effect, and you can also add
sound.

 Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 includes many different
types of slide transitions, including (but not limited to) the
following:

4. Box In 5.Box Out 6.Checkerboard Across
7. Checkerboard Down 8. Comb Horizontal 9. Comb Vertical
Add the same slide transition to all
of the slides in your presentation
1.On the left side of the slide window, in the pane that contains the Outline and Slides
tabs, click the Slides tab.
2.Select the slide thumbnails of the slides that you want to apply slide transitions to.
3.On the Animations tab, in the Transition To This Slide group, click a slide transition
effect.
To see more Add the same slide transition to all of the slides in your presentation
transition effects, in the Quick Styles list, click the More button .
4. To set the slide transition speed between the current slide and the next slide, in
the Transition To This Slide group, click the arrow next to Transition Speed, and
then select the speed that you want.
5. In the Transition To This Slide group, click Apply to All.

Add different slide transitions to
the slides in your presentation
 On the left side of the slide window, in the pane that contains the
Outline and Slides tabs, click the Slides tab, and then click a slide

Custom Animation
 Custom Animation deals with putting your bullet points
up on the screen one at a time, and how they enter.
They can just appear, fly in from the side or bottom, etc.
They don't necessarily add to the content of the
presentation, but rather simply make the presentation a
little more interesting to view, thus better keeping the
attention of your audience.

Insert Music and Sound from
Files
 Sound or music files can be saved on your computer in many
formats that can be used in PowerPoint 2007, such as MP3 or WAV
files. You can add these types of sound files onto any slide in your
presentation. However, only WAV type sound files can be
embedded into your presentation. To insert sound follow the
below steps -
1. Click on the Insert tab of the ribbon.
2. Click the drop down arrow under the Sound icon on the right
side of the ribbon.

While you rehearse, use the Slide Timing feature to record the time that you need to present each slide, and then use the recorded times to advance the slides automatically when you give your presentation to your actual audience. 15

While you time your presentation, do one or more of the following on the Rehearsal toolbar:  To move to the next slide, click Next.  To temporarily stop recording the time, click Pause.  To restart recording the time after pausing, click Pause.  To restart recording the time for the current slide, click Repeat. 3. After you set the time for the last slide, a message box displays the total time for the presentation and prompts you to do one of the following:  To keep the recorded slide timings, click Yes.  To discard the recorded slide timings, click No. 17
  • 18. Slide Transitions Slide transitions are the animation-like effects that occur in Slide Show view when you move from one slide to the next during an on-screen presentation. You can control the speed of each slide transition effect, and you can also add sound. 18

To see more Add the same slide transition to all of the slides in your presentation transition effects, in the Quick Styles list, click the More button . 4. To set the slide transition speed between the current slide and the next slide, in the Transition To This Slide group, click the arrow next to Transition Speed, and then select the speed that you want. 5. They can just appear, fly in from the side or bottom, etc. They don't necessarily add to the content of the presentation, but rather simply make the presentation a little more interesting to view, thus better keeping the attention of your audience. 22
  • 23. Insert Music and Sound from Files  Sound or music files can be saved on your computer in many formats that can be used in PowerPoint 2007, such as MP3 or WAV files. You can add these types of sound files onto any slide in your presentation. However, only WAV type sound files can be embedded into your presentation. To insert sound follow the below steps - 1. Click on the Insert tab of the ribbon. 2. Click the drop down arrow under the Sound icon on the right side of the ribbon. 3. Select Sound from File... 23
