3. My chosen artist is Pablo Picasso. He was baptised
Pablo Diego Jose Francissco de Paula Nepomuceno
Maria de los Remedios Cipriano n de la santisima
trinidad Ruiz y Picasso - a series of names honouring
various saints and relatives.
Pablo came from the city of Malaga in the Andalusian
region of Spain. He was born the 25th of October
1881 and died on the 8th of April 1973.
Pablo has many styles. He was first taught how to do
oil paintings and figure drawings by his father.
A few style periods were named the blue period, the
rose period and the African influenced period.

5. The old guitarist
This painting was painted
in 1903 when Picasso was
22. This was done during
his ‘blue period’. It
depicts an old blind man
with thread bare clothing,
weakly hunched over his
guitar playing in the
streets of Barcelona,
Spain.

6. Boy with a pipe
This was painted in 1905
when Picasso was 24. This
was done during his ‘rose’
period. The oil on canvas
painting depicts a Parisian
boy holding a pipe in his left
hand and wearing a garland
of flowers. He did this soon
after settling in Paris,
France.

7. Three Musicians
This was completed in
1921 in Paris, France. One
version is owned by the
Museum of Modern Art
in New York city. This
painting features a
pierrot, harlequin and a
monk who are generally
believed to represent
Picasso himself.
