Adopting a pet like a dog or cat can provide both benefits and costs. Pets can improve physical and mental health by lowering blood pressure, reducing stress, and encouraging exercise. However, owning a pet requires taking on financial costs like food, medical bills, and boarding when traveling. Pets also require time commitments for walking, playing, and training. While pets provide companionship, their behaviors can be unpredictable and potentially destructive in the home. Overall, adopting a pet is a personal decision that depends on an owner's lifestyle and financial situation.
2. Major Question
Is there risks and/or benefits of adopting a pet like a
dog or a cat (most common).
3. PROS
Pet owners can feel the love from their pets and vice
versa. There has been studies for about 25 years that
people can receive some health benefits off of pets.
Another way we benefit off of pets is as service dogs
like dogs who guide the blind, or dogs who help the
hearing impaired, and for people who have physical
disabilities. They can also help syclogiclly they can
reduce feelings of loneliness , stress, suicidal
thoughts, and they can help get dates.
4. PET’S HISTORY
Pets have been around for a long time. Even the
ancient Egyptians cherished their pets. They
considered them loyal and great guardians. An
example would be how the Egyptians built huge
statues of them to protect their greatest possessions
and their leaders (the tombs). Even in ancient Japan
they had the Akita they used them to protect their
kings and in war. Pets specifically dogs were always
considered loyal a great example is the story of
Hachiko .
5. Little extra
The story of hachiko is a true story that happened in
Japan the event was from 1923-1935. Long story short
there was a professor in Japan he had an Akita
everyday Hachi (he dog) would wait at the train
station where he got dropped off when he came from
the university he worked in. Hachi would do this every
day until one day the man didn’t come from work
because he had a cerebral hemorrhage and he died
Hachi kept on going everyday for 12 years to the train
station to look for him. “WOW”
6. HEALTH BENEFITS
They can help lower blood pressure , anxiety and boost
your immunity. Children also benefit from interaction
with pets. Taking care of pets teaches them
responsibility and can help them mature. Companion
ship also is provided by pet you know ‘mans best
friend’.
7. How pets improve your fitness
Kim Goedeker says her dog loves the outdoors and she
wasn’t much of an outdoor person. But her dog
inspired her to get healthy. Every morning her dog
Lola already knows, and as son as she puts on her
running shoes Lola runs towards the door. Kim
Goedeker says she lost weight it doesn’t say exactly
how much. Dogs make you more friendly and life
according to research done by Lisa Wood a public
health instructor.
8. CONS (possibly)
The reason there is a possibly there is because some
people might not consider the costs of having a pet is a
con because maybe money is not a problem. It costs a
lot to maintain a pet like medical bills, food, toys, a
bed and modifications to your house like fencing etc.
You also have to spay and/or neuter your pet. Another
requirement is to register your pet and it must have a
license, and you have to pay an annual fee. By medical
billing I mean your dog’s shots required by the law or
else they fine you.
9. Oh DOG
Another possible con is how your dog behaves. Like us
humans every dog has its own personality. You can
either have a quiet calm dog or a crazy one who
destroys everything. And that’s a con because your
going to have to pay for the things it damaged. Or you
can have one of those dogs who loves to dig and
messes up your garden. And finally you might get one
of those dogs who chews on everything your shoes
your furniture and anything left misplaced or anything
it can chew.
10. Last down side
For me as a pet owner I tried to look for some cons
there was there was not much. But I remembered that I
love to travel and if you have pets it’s a little of a hassle.
So if you have a pet and love to travel you have to look
for someone to take care of your pet. Either a friend or
a doggy day care which is pricey. And if you really love
your pet your going to miss it. But If you decide to take
it,it is still pricey, and if your on vacation you don’t
want to be walking your dog and taking care of it. Your
on vacation right!
