Migrated over ~5,500 instances in 9 months, reduced
storage costs 50%, compute costs 20%, and sped up
provisioning by 10x (4 weeks to 2 days).
Migrated 300+ applications in one year for a savings of $14M.
Migrated data center assets for several divested business
units in 6 months.
Consolidating 56 data centers down to 6, moving 75% of
infrastructure to cloud in the process, and re-allocating more
than $100M toward key business drivers.
Migrated 8 of 12 data centers to AWS, improving
performance, reliability, and cost.

20. AMP 1 – “Like for Like”
Description: Migrate Re-Host application “as-is” to AWS without any code changes.
Objective: Use of AWS/Partner tools to auto-migrate to cloud with minimal downtime.
Where to Apply? Applications running on virtual instances, little to no inter-application dependency,
do not require any kind of application reconfiguration, refactoring, recoding, or re-architecture to make
it cloud compatible. Small (less than 20GB data storage) storage migration on fully supported, cloud
compatible AMI (OS). For example: RHEL > 6, Windows 2008 or greater.

Description: Upgrade (Re-Host and Re-Platform) to Windows 2008, 2012 or 2016 AMI in
AWS.
Objective: Use of methodical and proven process to upgrade application’s underlying OS to a
supported Windows OS.
Where to Apply? Operating System Upgrade Win2003 to Win2008. Small database, little
inter-app dependency.

22. AMP 3 – “Data Lift”
Description: Data-centric applications that fall in Re-Host category
Objective: Migrate applications and databases using DMS or similar data migration tools.
Where to Apply? Re-host category of internal-facing applications with large databases (>
100GB and < 50 TB) running on AWS supported databases.

23. AMP 4 – “Website Acceleration”
Description: Web application requiring High Availability (HA) and sub-second
response time on webpages.
Objective: Migrate marketing websites using automation tools to a cached
architecture for improved response times and reduced latency.
Where to Apply? Re-Host category of applications, limited inter-app dependency,
web-based, n-tiered.
Tools and AWS Services Used
CloudFront S3 Route53 Elastic Load

24. AMP 5 – “Automated Delivery”
Description: Automate CI/CD of an application using AWS Code* (star) services.
Objective: The goal of this pattern is to apply CI/CD to an application using AWS Code*
services.
Where to Apply? Re-Host category of applications, little inter-app dependency.
Tools and AWS Services Used
CodeDeploy CodePipelineCodeCommit CloudFormation
26. Competency EnablementTools
Partner Migration Program (PMP)
Investment
Support and investment for customers that are ready to
migrate at least 10 applications or 100 AWS instances
and they are / will engage an AWS migration competency
partner for the migration.
27. Investment in Migration Competency Partner Led PMP Migrations
1) Migration Readiness and Planning
(MRP)
2) Application Migrations
AWS Investments:
50% after deducting the customer investment
in the planning phase. The partner is expected
to invest 50% as well.
Access to discounted migration tools.
AWS Investments:
The balance of the PMP investment after the
MRP investment. Plus an additional 30% of the
total PMP investment in the form of customer
usage credits.
Access to discounted migration tools
Up to 10% of AWS annual services revenue post migration
Example:
Expected AWS Services revenue in month 24 is $80k. This is equal to $960k annual AWS
services. 10% of this is available for investment in the partner migration project - $96k.
In addition usage credits of $28.8k (30% of the AWS investment) will be made available
28. Willingness and ability to invest resources to achieve cloud migration readiness and actual migrations.
Migration opportunity that includes workloads that are 500+ Amazon EC2 instances identified for
migrations, and/or representing at least $1M of annual AWS services spending after migrations.
Strong executive level sponsorship to migrate workloads in specific timeframes.
Ability to make commitment to migrate workloads to and run on AWS for a period of 3
years after migration
