  6. 6. 6 INNOVATE ON CLOUD – DR as a Service  DR site is very expensive, but regulators may require you to have one or more DC  Many DR sites are idle all the time: it never gets updated or verified  Expensive and difficult to keep DR site in sync  Applications  Data  Configuration Challenges  AWS Storage Gateway service is used to connect on-premises application with Cloud Storage to securely back-up the data  S3 is used to store the volume snapshots and AMIs  The Database can be continuously replicated in AWS using Replication Tools. (Example: For Oracle DB we can consider Data Guard)  In Case of DR scenario:  AWS Database to become the Active primary database  For the Web and App servers, AMI and the volume snapshots will be used to recreate the Web and App servers in AWS.  Switchover DNS to point to the DR site  The above process can be automated using tools or scripts DR as a Service Explained

  10. 10. 10 BUILD ON CLOUD – Data Warehouse and Legacy Archival implementation for an Australian Telecom Major  Customer needs to archive data from legacy systems of telecom providers that they have recently acquired.  Implement a warehousing solution to get data insights.  Data has to be extracted from legacy systems and prepared before loading to the warehouse. Business Need  Designing the end to end movement of 3.38 TB of app data and 15 GB of monthly CDR data from six legacy application systems to Redshift.  Report platform design and report building in Business Objects. What did we do?  TCS proposed to extract data from legacy IBM Datastage systems to Redshift using S3 as staging area.  TCS proposed automated movement of data from S3 staging area to Redshift using AWS Datapipeline.  Data in REDSHIFT to be accessed using AWS connector available for Business Objects.  Xsuite and Deep Security for IAM implemented.  Amazon Glacier used to store archive data that is not required in Redshift. . Solution  Data Warehousing with AWS Redshift is cost effective.  Minimal manual intervention in moving data to Redshift from S3. Benefits
