Reference architecture & Automation
How did we manage Complexity?
SOLUTION BUILD:
We’ve built high-performing infrastructure on AWS (146+
servers) using modern technologies (containerisation
and microservices, CloudFormation, etc.) enabling
cloud-native application architecture.
DIRECT CONNECT:
We have set up high-speed private links from Vodafone
DC to AWS significantly improving the application
performance.
WELL-ARCHITECTED FRAMEWORK REVIEW:
We carried out a review of the architecture with AWS
based on their “well-architected framework”. According
to AWS, there are no critical issues and solution follows
best practices and design principles, providing high-
performing resilient, secure infrastructure in a cost-
efficient way.
AUTOMATION & CONFIGURATION
MANAGEMENT:
We are automating the provisioning of environments,
implementing config management supporting the
DevOps processes. This will improve the project’s
agility and increase the speed of releasing new
features and application updates, reducing the time-
to-market.
DISASTER RECOVERY:
We will develop a disaster recovery strategy that
will ensure business continuity and service
availability even in a case of the whole Ireland
region outage.
COST OPTIMISATION:
We have carried out a cost optimisation exercise:
rightsized the environment, turning off unused
resources, analysed the feasibility of reserved
instances, achieving significant cost savings.
