INTRODUCTION
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN Dr. B.R.A AUDITORIUM
• DR. Bhim Rao Ambedkar auditorium is a
grand structure built in the campus of
the Ram Manohar Lohiya Law
university.
• It is one of the India’s largest
auditorium located near LDA’s Kanpur
road, Lucknow.
• It’s constructed was completed in 2011.

• There are 2 Auditorium

• 2 V.I.P. rooms.
• A semi circular food cot
• 2 Rehearsal rooms.
• A foyer area before the entry in the auditorium
and connecting corridors.
• Audio visual cabin.

(CAPACITY :- 2650)
 STAGE
• Stage is in the shape of a semicircular with the
radius of 10.5 m.
• The level of elevation of stage is +900 mm.
• The floor of the stage is finished with natural
wooden battens.
• The main purpose of wooden flooring is
acoustical insulation as well as to make a
smooth surface.
• There is a projection screen at the back end of
the stage measuring 12mx18m.
• At both the ends of stage, the suspended
screen are provided for the side rows
audience.

BACK STAGE
 BACK STAGE
• The back stage is built on the trabeated
structure.
• V.I.P. entries through the backstage.
• It is also in the shape of semi circular of
radius 27 m.
• 2 entry/exit given along connected with
the food cot and cyclorama.
• A staircase is provided in the back stage
which connect to the green room and
rehearsal rooms.
• It haa a cabin for Audio visual control
system.

• The house of the auditorium is planned in
circular shape.
• It is of THRUST TYPE auditorium.
• Total number of ENTRY/EXIT- 6
• The height of the ceiling from the last row is
3000mm.
• Central Gangway is 2000 millimeter wide.
• Intermediate Gangways are 1350 millimeter
wide.
• Total number of gangways are 7 in which 3 are
intermediate gangways.
• The proscenium width is 3000mm.

Flooring
• Flooring is done with soft carpet for
acoustical as well as aesthetic purpose.
• Structural walls of the house are
covered with veneered and soft carpet
for decorative as well as acoustical
purpose.
• The dimension of door is
2000x2000mm.
• Total no. of rows-16

BALCONY
• Total number of ENTRY/EXIT- 4
• No. of gangways -12.
• The dimension of door is 2000x2000mm.
• The level difference from the first to the last
row is 9600mm.
• The height of the riser is 600mm and total
no. of steps is 48 of riser 200 mm each.
• The railing is provided in the front of the first
row of height 500mm.
• Total number of rows are 18.

Demerits
• Water Sprinklers are not provided for fire safety
system . only fire alarm, smoke detector and
fire extinguishers are provided.
• Risers of the upper tier of the house were quite
high and thus, are very uncomfortable.
• The stage was not visible properly from the
corner seats of the house. even the screens
which were provided for the audience sitting
on the corner seats were not properly visible
due to the curvature of the stage.

Standards
• Water sprinklers are the fastest and the
most effective preventive method in case
of indoor fire. Hence a public building like
this must be provided with water
sprinklers.
• In no case, the riser height shall exceed
175mm. here, risers measured about
200mm in the last row of the upper tier.
• The house shall be designed in such a way
that the stage is visible from each and
every seat with ease.

• There were two foyers for the main auditorium
and a separate foyer for mini auditorium.
• Lifts were not provided.
• There was a buffer space at the entrance of
the auditorium.
• Seats measured 500*500mm.
• Ramps were given in the intermediate
Gangways
• Stage measured 21.5m across its width and
10.5m along its depth.
• A good quality of projection facility was
provided along with 3 projectors and 3 screens.
• Auditorium was equiped with high
performance sound reinforcement system.
• V.I.P. suites were not there .
• There was a general parking only with capacity
of 35 E.C.S.
Kgmu convention centre
• There was a common foyer for all the three
auditoriums and amphitheatre .
• Lifts were provided to reach different levels
of the building.
• No buffer space was provided at the
entrance of the auditorium.
• Seats of the house measured 400
by400mm, which were smaller then
generally required.
• Ramps were not provided in the gangways.
• The proscenium width was 4000mm.
• The stage measured 26m across its width
and 12.5m along its depth.
• There was no projection facility available,
although projection screen was provided at
the back of the stage.
• General P.A. speakers were used for audio
delivery.
• V.I.P. suites were there for special guests.

INTRODUCTION
• KGMU Scientific Convention centre is a grand
structure built on the Sardar Patel Hostel
grounds at Shahmina Road, Lucknow.
• It was built with MPs’ funds. The center was a
project of Ex Prime Minister and Member of
Parliament from Lucknow, Shri Atal Behari
Vajpayee.
• Its Construction started in 2001 and was
completed in 2004.
• It is used for national and international level
scientific and cultural functions of the
university.

ARCHITECTURAL FEATURES
• The Convention Centre has a floor area of 200,000
sq feet.
• The dome measures 52.5 metre in diameter.
• 3 Auditorium

• 2 banquet halls
• 2 exhibition galleries
• An open air theatre
• A general library
• Audiovisual library
• Rehearsal rooms

• A foyer area below the dome and
connecting corridors.
• 8 lifts, including a capsule lift from which
historical buildings of Lucknow can be
seen.
• 8 VIP suites with complete lodging
facilities.
• A complete kitchen and pantry & food
hubs.

(CAPACITY :- 1050)
STAGE
• Stage was in the shape of a sector of a
circle with the arch length of 26 m. and
Chord length of 23.6 m. and depth of
stage is 12 m. upto the screen.
• The level of elevation of stage is +900
mm.
• The floor of the stage is finished with
natural wooden battens, joined together
with DOVE TAIL joints.
• The main purpose of wooden flooring is
acoustical insulation as well as to make a
smooth surface.
• There is a projection screen at the back
end of the stage measuring 9 m. by 7 m.
 BACK STAGE/SIDE STAGE
• There are two side stages, one on each side
of the stage.
• Side stage and stage were bifurcated by
Fins/Wings which are free to rotate on its
axis.
• Floor of side stage was covered with soft
carpet ensuring comfort as well as
acoustical insulation.
• Side stage had a cabin for audio-visual
control system.
• The Column supporting the roof of stage
was also covered with Acoustical carpet for
acoustical insulation.

• Capacity- 1050 seats.
• Door (2200*2200)mm.
• Total number of Entry/Exit are 8.
• Entry/Exit No.1 & No.8 are for physically
disabled citizens.
• Height of the ceiling is around 10 meter to 12
meter.
• Minimum ceiling height is 5.6 meter (at the
backside).
• Aisle is 1100 millimeter wide.
• Aisle is after 8 rows from the last row.
• Level difference between first row and last row
6300 millimeter.
• Distance between stage and first row of seating
(Proscenium) is 4000 millimeter.
• Chair dimension
- Empty Chair = (400*600)mm
- Occupied Chair = (400*700)mm

• Total number of gangways are 5.
• Central Gangway is 1500 millimeter
wide.
• Intermediate Gangways are 1350
millimeter wide.
• Outer Gangways are 1650 millimeter wide.
• Flooring is done with soft carpet for
acoustical as well as aesthetic purpose.
• Structural walls of the house are covered
with particle boards lined with decorative
laminates for decorative as well as
acoustical purpose.
• The house of the auditorium is planned in
oval shape.

• Audio-Visual control

• Acoustical tiles used in
the ceiling to avoid
acoustical defects.

perforated MDF of size
600*600mm.
• Ceiling is kept high
so that sound may
travel easily throughout
the house.

Banquet hall
 Capacity (400 pax)
• The plan of banquet hall was in circular
shape.
• The diameter of hall was 20 m.
• The roof of the hall was SLANT due to
auditorium present above the hall on
the first floor.
• The floor of the hall is finished with the
vitrified tiles of dimension 600x600 mm.
• Total no. of entry/exit 4.
• The false ceiling was provided.
 Capacity (200 pax)
• The plan of banquet hall was in circular
shape.
• The diameter of hall was 16m.
• The roof of the hall was plain.
• The floor of the hall is finished with the
vitrified tiles of dimension 600x600 mm.
• Total no. of entry/exit 3.
• The false ceiling was provided.
• There was no intermediate columns.

v.i.p. parking
• The V.I.P. parking was constructed just
below the dome.
• The parking was built on trabeated
structure.
• The entry/exit into the parking is through
a gallery .
• The dimension of gallery is 5.5x71 m.
• Total no. of columns :19
• The size the columns are 500x500mm and
650x650mm.
• The O.T.S. was provided on both corner of
the parking.
• .

  • 2. INTRODUCTION ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN Dr. B.R.A AUDITORIUM • DR. Bhim Rao Ambedkar auditorium is a grand structure built in the campus of the Ram Manohar Lohiya Law university. • It is one of the India’s largest auditorium located near LDA’s Kanpur road, Lucknow. • It’s constructed was completed in 2011.

ARCHITECTURAL DETAILS ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN Dr. B.R.A AUDITORIUM Auditorium of Cap. 2650 Auditorium of Cap. 350 • There are 2 Auditorium -Capacity 2650 -Capacity 350 • Separate entries for V.I.P. • 2 V.I.P. rooms. • A semi circular food cot • 2 Rehearsal rooms. • A foyer area before the entry in the auditorium and connecting corridors. • Audio visual cabin.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN Dr. B.R.A AUDITORIUM AUDITORIUM (CAPACITY :- 2650)  STAGE • Stage is in the shape of a semicircular with the radius of 10.5 m. • The level of elevation of stage is +900 mm. • The floor of the stage is finished with natural wooden battens. • The main purpose of wooden flooring is acoustical insulation as well as to make a smooth surface. • There is a projection screen at the back end of the stage measuring 12mx18m. • At both the ends of stage, the suspended screen are provided for the side rows audience. ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN Dr. B.R.A AUDITORIUM AUDITORIUM (CAPACITY :- 2650) BACK STAGE  BACK STAGE • The back stage is built on the trabeated structure. • V.I.P. entries through the backstage. • It is also in the shape of semi circular of radius 27 m. • 2 entry/exit given along connected with the food cot and cyclorama. • A staircase is provided in the back stage which connect to the green room and rehearsal rooms. • It haa a cabin for Audio visual control system.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN Dr. B.R.A AUDITORIUM • The house of the auditorium is planned in circular shape. • It is of THRUST TYPE auditorium. • Total number of ENTRY/EXIT- 6 • The height of the ceiling from the last row is 3000mm. • Central Gangway is 2000 millimeter wide. • Intermediate Gangways are 1350 millimeter wide. • Total number of gangways are 7 in which 3 are intermediate gangways. • The proscenium width is 3000mm. ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN Dr. B.R.A AUDITORIUM Wall Flooring • Flooring is done with soft carpet for acoustical as well as aesthetic purpose. • Structural walls of the house are covered with veneered and soft carpet for decorative as well as acoustical purpose. • The dimension of door is 2000x2000mm. • Total no. of rows-16

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN Dr. B.R.A AUDITORIUM AUDITORIUM (CAPACITY :- 2650) BALCONY • Total number of ENTRY/EXIT- 4 • No. of gangways -12. • The dimension of door is 2000x2000mm. • The level difference from the first to the last row is 9600mm. • The height of the riser is 600mm and total no. of steps is 48 of riser 200 mm each. • The railing is provided in the front of the first row of height 500mm. • Total number of rows are 18.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN Dr. B.R.A AUDITORIUM Demerits • Water Sprinklers are not provided for fire safety system . only fire alarm, smoke detector and fire extinguishers are provided. • Risers of the upper tier of the house were quite high and thus, are very uncomfortable. • The stage was not visible properly from the corner seats of the house. even the screens which were provided for the audience sitting on the corner seats were not properly visible due to the curvature of the stage.
  • 15. ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN Dr. B.R.A AUDITORIUM Standards • Water sprinklers are the fastest and the most effective preventive method in case of indoor fire. Hence a public building like this must be provided with water sprinklers. • In no case, the riser height shall exceed 175mm. here, risers measured about 200mm in the last row of the upper tier. • The house shall be designed in such a way that the stage is visible from each and every seat with ease.
  • 16. ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN Dr. B.R.A AUDITORIUM Dr. B.R. AMBEDKAR SABHAGHAR • There were two foyers for the main auditorium and a separate foyer for mini auditorium. • Lifts were not provided. • There was a buffer space at the entrance of the auditorium. • Seats measured 500*500mm. • Ramps were given in the intermediate Gangways • Stage measured 21.5m across its width and 10.5m along its depth. • A good quality of projection facility was provided along with 3 projectors and 3 screens. • Auditorium was equiped with high performance sound reinforcement system. • V.I.P. suites were not there . • There was a general parking only with capacity of 35 E.C.S. Kgmu convention centre • There was a common foyer for all the three auditoriums and amphitheatre . • Lifts were provided to reach different levels of the building. • No buffer space was provided at the entrance of the auditorium. • Seats of the house measured 400 by400mm, which were smaller then generally required. • Ramps were not provided in the gangways. • The proscenium width was 4000mm. • The stage measured 26m across its width and 12.5m along its depth. • There was no projection facility available, although projection screen was provided at the back of the stage. • General P.A. speakers were used for audio delivery. • V.I.P. suites were there for special guests. comparison

  • 19. INTRODUCTION • KGMU Scientific Convention centre is a grand structure built on the Sardar Patel Hostel grounds at Shahmina Road, Lucknow. • It was built with MPs’ funds. The center was a project of Ex Prime Minister and Member of Parliament from Lucknow, Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee. • Its Construction started in 2001 and was completed in 2004. • It is used for national and international level scientific and cultural functions of the university. AUDITORIUM (CAPACITY :- 1050) STAGE • Stage was in the shape of a sector of a circle with the arch length of 26 m. and Chord length of 23.6 m. and depth of stage is 12 m. upto the screen. • The level of elevation of stage is +900 mm. • The floor of the stage is finished with natural wooden battens, joined together with DOVE TAIL joints. • The main purpose of wooden flooring is acoustical insulation as well as to make a smooth surface. • There is a projection screen at the back end of the stage measuring 9 m. by 7 m.  BACK STAGE/SIDE STAGE • There are two side stages, one on each side of the stage. • Side stage and stage were bifurcated by Fins/Wings which are free to rotate on its axis. • Floor of side stage was covered with soft carpet ensuring comfort as well as acoustical insulation. • Side stage had a cabin for audio-visual control system. • The Column supporting the roof of stage was also covered with Acoustical carpet for acoustical insulation. HOUSE • Capacity- 1050 seats. • Door (2200*2200)mm. • Total number of Entry/Exit are 8. • Entry/Exit No.1 & No.8 are for physically disabled citizens. • Height of the ceiling is around 10 meter to 12 meter. • Minimum ceiling height is 5.6 meter (at the backside). • Aisle is 1100 millimeter wide. • Aisle is after 8 rows from the last row. • Level difference between first row and last row 6300 millimeter. • Distance between stage and first row of seating (Proscenium) is 4000 millimeter. • Chair dimension - Empty Chair = (400*600)mm - Occupied Chair = (400*700)mm ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN SCIENTIFIC CONVENTION CENTRE
  • 27. • Total number of gangways are 5. • Central Gangway is 1500 millimeter wide. • Intermediate Gangways are 1350 millimeter wide. • Outer Gangways are 1650 millimeter wide. • Flooring is done with soft carpet for acoustical as well as aesthetic purpose. • Structural walls of the house are covered with particle boards lined with decorative laminates for decorative as well as acoustical purpose. • The house of the auditorium is planned in oval shape. ACOUSTICS • Audio-Visual control panel to control audio, Video. • Acoustical tiles used in the ceiling to avoid acoustical defects. • Tiles were made of perforated MDF of size 600*600mm. • Ceiling is kept high so that sound may travel easily throughout the house. Banquet hall  Capacity (400 pax) • The plan of banquet hall was in circular shape. • The diameter of hall was 20 m. • The roof of the hall was SLANT due to auditorium present above the hall on the first floor. • The floor of the hall is finished with the vitrified tiles of dimension 600x600 mm. • Total no. of entry/exit 4. • The false ceiling was provided.  Capacity (200 pax) • The plan of banquet hall was in circular shape. • The diameter of hall was 16m. • The roof of the hall was plain. • The floor of the hall is finished with the vitrified tiles of dimension 600x600 mm. • Total no. of entry/exit 3. • The false ceiling was provided. • There was no intermediate columns.   • 31. v.i.p. parking • The V.I.P. parking was constructed just below the dome. • The parking was built on trabeated structure. • The entry/exit into the parking is through a gallery . • The dimension of gallery is 5.5x71 m. • Total no. of columns :19 • The size the columns are 500x500mm and 650x650mm. • The O.T.S. was provided on both corner of the parking. • .
