- What makes Dorset special – Dorset for Beginners Adam Lallana Dorset – Environment factor of production in Dorset Blends quality of South West with pace of South East Punches above its weight environmentally – Jurassic Coast; AONB; Blue Flags Punches above its weight in a number of sectors, financial, tourism And certainly public recognition if measured by this Bournemouth, Poole, Dorset mentioned on TV However in total we don’t seem to quite achieve more than the sum of our parts This great environment, great economy acknowledged – but the key question is have we maximised the advantages we have. Significant potential for GKE growth untapped
- 3 month feasibility study – led by The Ecological Sequestration Trust – funded by LEP, Mouchel, Bournemouth University Purpose of today – not agree concept is a good idea but get stuck into the feasibility – what can Dorset do? Challenge to Peter! Area Based Approach – site specific Environment Benefit Analysis already undertaken Create Data Platform of environment and economic data – open access principles Join up environment and economic place to support prosperity – recognise that whilst there are limits to growth, there may be ways of supporting environmentally intelligent growth and if we can identify the economic inhibitors early – if earlier than other areas – we can respond quicker and gain economic advantage.
