Class 7
‘Connections’
In Class 7, basic outdoor travel skills will be
introduced and students will begin exploring
connections between each other and the
environment.
Students will be introduced to journey based
experiential learning through a multi-day canoe
trip.
Riding out from school on day one, Class 8
students will venture out in their own backyard;
the Noosa hinterland.
Exploring both physical and personal terrain
beyond their comfort zones, they will travel by
mountain bike, by canoe, on foot and on rope
(climb/abseil).
Class 8
‘Exploration’
In Class 9, students are at perhaps one of the
most tumultuous times of their life with
emotional, physiological and social factors all
influencing their journey into adulthood.
Students in Class 9 will be immersing
themselves in a journey of personal and group
discovery over the entire year, with 5 camps
focused on taking responsibility of their own and
others’ basic needs and developing resilience to
changing and challenge situations.
As the level of difficulty and duration of the
camps increases, so to does the level of
responsibility taken by the students. By the end
of the year students will be conducting their own
bushwalking expeditions in small groups, where
they will plan their own route, make bookings,
organise equipment and food, and navigate to
complete the walk independently.

A practical, hands on approach meets students
in Class 10, with a focus on planning and
developing their own adventurous journey.
Students will learn new skills and means of
travelling and exploring their natural world
aimed at building self-confidence and a healthy
attitude to risk.
Building on their experiences in Class 9,
students will once again develop their own
independent expedition that may include
Canoeing, Sea Kayaking, Mountain Biking,
Trekking Rafting or …?!
Class 10
‘Adventurous Journeys’
Linking in with studies in idealism and values,
students in Class 11 will focus on making a
difference and exploring relationships with
people and communities outside their comfort
zone.
Using the skills and experiences from previous
years, students will be supported to undertake a
project/camp that may see them working
together with indigenous youth, environmental
action groups or overseas students (some trips
will require fundraising).
Class 11
‘Local/Global Action’
Students in Class 12 will have an opportunity to
synthesise all they have learnt till now in a big
picture project involving the whole group.
Camp in this year is wholly student led and
parallels their personal project, focusing on inter-
personal relationships and teamwork.
