6. Learning Marketplace Scope
Marketplace pilot is to enable learning, training and
development opportunities across the Midwest to be
listed and found on a single platform.
Project Aim:
Increase the amount, quality and reach of learning
and development opportunities in the region.
7. Drivers
• Innovators and leaders always want to do
better
Insight: More than anyone else their leadership,
learning and development has a social benefit
• Learning and development can fall down
list of priorities
Insight: Reducing barriers could lead to more
effective and resilient community organisations
• Much of the learning is relevant across
many local organisations
Insight: A project that reaches across sectors,
services and the region can help everyone
8. Challenges
• There is a learning need for community
groups
Insight: No single mechanism / organisation to
match needs to demand.
• There are multiple providers, procurers
and networks
Insight: No single way/place to find out what’s
available or planned.
• The current situation is less than ideal for
everyone
Insight: Money and time is wasted
9. Solution
• Bring all learning opportunities together
in one place
Benefits: A single way to promote and find learning
opportunities
• Enable better planning through surveys,
suggestions and demand
Benefits: Money and time is saved, risk of under-
subscription reduced
• Enable new ways to deliver training and
learn
Benefits: Greater impact and better services using
existing resources
11. Learnings
Learning from other platforms, and
our stakeholder engagement.
• You can’t do everything for
everyone
• ‘Free for all’ isn’t sustainable!
• Buyers and sellers meet in
marketplaces
• Everyone’s got something to offer
• Ability to test demand reduces risk
• Recommendations increase
quality
• Markets are collaborative, not just
competitive
