2. WHAT IS IT?
GameMaker is a proprietary game creation
system created by Mark Overmars in the
Delphi programming language in 1999.
It allows us to create cross-platform games in
record time and at a fraction of the cost of
conventional tools.
Everyone can download it for free from the
YoYo Games website.
http://docs.yoyogames.com/
but there are some other versions too.
Studio's fully integrated development
environment gives you the power to create
professional games without any knowledge of
programming.
3. THE STUDIO ENVIRONMENT
GameMaker: Studio has everything that you need to deal with fonts, sounds,
images and music, as well as other resources that you may need for creating
games.
It enables you to define game entities, known as 'objects' and their behaviors
in an intuitive, event-driven way and has an easy-to-use drag-and-drop
interface.
4. WORKSPACE
The Studio workspace allows you to easily
introduce your images, music, sound
effects, and fonts through the Studio
Resource Tree, drag and drop actions to
events within the Object Editor and tie it all
together within the Room Editor.
Rooms
Every game made with Studio takes place
within one or more rooms. It’s here where you
will bring all the objects together to build a
game.
Objects
These are the fundamental building blocks of
Studio allowing you to assign behaviors or
interactions to events.
Actions and Events
Combine actions and events to control every
last detail of your game using Studio’s event-
driven approach.
6. 2. Next you have to create your player with
any colour or any shape and size you
want.
7. 3. Add an event and
afterwords you set
the moves of your
players.
8. 4. Create a room where you will place your objects to play.
9. Thank you for your attention.
Look at the film created by Dimitris Tikkis to see step by step how to
create you own game.
Have fun!!!
