Michael Caine, Sylvester Stallone among others and several
footballers including Pele, Osvaldo Ardiles, John Wark and
popular faces from Ipswich town. The plot speaks of a football
match between the Allied POWs, and a German team and how
the Allied team defeats the German team in spite of bias from
the officials and a strong opposition. They finally escape from
prison after winning the death match and create history.
History however paints a different picture of “the death match”
between two teams, in which a series of matches were played
in 1942 and the German team was defeated over and over
