2. Dreaming of unrealistic dreams
Many of us dream of having a better life, the perfect career and even the ideal partner.
Yet, for some of us, such dreams seem too much to wish for, let alone to start
considering them for real. In fact, some of our dreams may be so unrealistic that we don’t
talk about them even to those closest to us.
I always believe that our human potential is unlimited and more than us not realising it,
we insist on not believing that it is.
If you have a dream that either looks or feels impossible to ever become a reality, here’s
a path you can start taking towards realising it.

3. Describe your dream
in its most minute details
Let’s assume your dream is about your perfect career. Defining what that perfect career
is the first key step to take. This is not about considering whether it’s in marketing,
consultancy, technology or any other individual sector. Neither is it about pondering a
specific position, such as being a company director, an engineer or an international
performer.
This step is specifically about defining all the boxes that your dream career needs to be
able to tick in order to qualify as being… perfect!

4. Recognise what is
most important to you
This next step is about recognising what’s most important to you in the particular area of
your life where the dream belongs.
Let’s assume that your dream is about being in a relationship with your ideal partner. If
so, ask yourself not only what’s most important to you about being in that relationship,
but also what’s most important to you about YOU being someone’s other half and that
other person being yours.
Once you’ve completed this, revisit what you’ve written in the first step and refine your
initial list describing your ideal partner.

5. Realise what your dream
will do for you
This step is particularly helpful when you see or feel that your dream is totally unrealistic.
I believe that any dream is a legitimate dream and discarding it, just because we
evaluate it according to the limiting perspective or vision we might have at this point in
time, will result in an ongoing sense of being dissatisfied or not really fulfilled in life.
However, quite often our dreams adopt a façade as if they are a metaphor of what we
truly want. It’s a bit like when we can’t find the right words to express something and we
use analogies.

6. Realise what your dream
will do for you
So, regardless of how unrealistic your dream might look or feel to you, leave aside
evaluating it and instead define what your dream, once it has come true, will do for you
and for your life. When you have answered this question, ask the same thing in relation
to the given answer. That is…
What will it do for you?
Repeat this a few times until you become clearer of what you truly want.

7. Define who else will be
enriched by your dream
In other words, who will benefit from you realising your dream? And most importantly
who will be negatively affected by it? Along the journey of making your dream come true,
changes in you, and therefore in your life, will naturally occur and have an impact (be
that positive or negative) on those who are currently in your life.
This step might lead you, at some point, to not necessarily abandon your dream, but
make improvements to it so as to ensure it will enrich not only your life, but also the lives
of those most important to you.

8. What’s next?
If the above steps take you to start a journey of making your dream come true, they will
only be the first steps along the path. Yet, they will enable you to take the correct path.
Embrace the journey and discover where that path will lead you.
