Dear SSON community member,
Shared Services & Outsourcing is one of the fastest growing sectors in Malaysia. As the only global network for SSO
professionals, SSON is proud to be part of this conversation and we hope to continue adding value through our knowledge
portal, community platform and events.
Since its successful launch in 2013, the Shared Services & Outsourcing Malaysia Summit has became the most anticipated
annual gathering in Malaysia’s SSO community to discuss challenges, share best practices and network.
To round off the 2014 conference, we have put together this Post-Show-Report, designed to provide you with a summary of
the facts, themes, learnings, future trends – as well as the fun – that came out of SSO Malaysia 2014.
I’d like to thank the more than 300 delegates who have attended SSO Malaysia in the past two years. We hope you found the
experience valuable and we look forward to welcoming you back in 2015 at the 3rd Annual Shared Services and Outsourcing
Malaysia with an even more exciting programme.
In 2015, you will hear brand new topics explore cutting edge technologies and innovative practices. SSON’s brand new policy
allows no vendor to speak on stage – we have taken your suggestion to only select speakers who are the leading practitioners
to share real stories, peer-to-peer, so there will be zero sales pitches. We know you enjoyed the roundtable discussions, so
they will remain on the program for 2015.The newly added benchmarking sneak preview sessions will help you understand
the position of your shared services among peers onsite. You can also choose from four workshops for in-depth learning and
three site tours to world-class SSCs to closely discover the secrets of success.
Further, SSON is launching Shared Intelligence, the industry’s premier online community exclusive solely to active
practitioners. You’ll be able to connect with 3,000 practitioners attending our conferences globally for 12 months, no vendors
are allowed access.
SI will ensure you meet the right peer at the right time 24/7 365 days a year, whether you’re preparing a business case,
needing a process template or org chart or want to canvass opinion on a project. As a practitioner attendee to SSO Malaysia,
you’ll receive a free 12-month license with your ticket.
Thank you once again for supporting us this year, and we look forward to seeing you again in 2015.

“SSON is a valuable global brand in the area of SSO, and their presence in Malaysia
is a glowing testimonial to the potential of the local and regional markets in this space.

2014 Show Highlights
Q&A with MdeC
Delegates had the opportunity to ask MdeC (Multimedia Development Corporation) anything. Alongside this they were the first to hear
about MdeC’s perspective on the future of SSCs and how the changing Malaysian economy will affect them.
BIG Plenary Speakers
Malaysia has become a force to be reckoned with in the Shared Services World, attracting some of the biggest brands globally.
SSO Malaysia showcased this by bringing delegates some of the biggest and best names to share their success stories. GE Global
operations showed us how they are reimagining shared services, the United Nations Development Program illustrated how they
reduced attrition and attracted talent through training and staff rotation, meanwhile GlaxoSmithKline demonstrated how they went
from a cost to profit centre!
In-depth workshops on key topics
Alongside our thought leading plenary sessions, SSON know that there are some topics which require additional in-depth and
practical how-to guides. These were provided in the form of three workshops conducted by shared service leaders. They covered vital
topics such as optimizing your governance and control model, setting up a shared service centre and how your workplace can respond
to new developments within social, mobile and analytics.
Case Studies Galore
At SSON we know that there is nothing more important then practical insight and how –to’s from your peers, enabling you with blue-
prints and benchmarking you just can’t get from any other source. That’s why at our 2014 summit we showcased case studies from
both global and local Malaysian companies such as GE, Alstom Group, BT, AND Kimberley Clark.

About SSON
The Shared Services & Outsourcing Network (SSON) is the largest and most established community of shared services and
outsourcing professionals in the world. Established in 1999, SSON recognized the revolution in support services as it was happening,
and realized that a forum was needed through which practitioners could connect with each other on a regional as well as a global
basis. Thus SSON was born.
Our staff work from international offices in New York, London, Singapore, Sydney, Johannesburg, Berlin and Dubai to research
current trends and developments in shared services, and reflect these to you, our members, to aid your decision-making. Today,
we have over 78,000 members around the world, who engage with us on every level, and whom we support in their day-to-day jobs
through a variety of online and on-site resources.
Our latest addition, coming this fall, is Shared Intelligence: a unique, practitioner led, online community to provide the one-to-one
exchange within a private forum that our members have listed as a top priority. To pre-register your interest, please email Rochelle
Hood.
SSON’s “Gateway” is a weekly newsletter that is sent to all registered SSON members, highlighting the most interesting and popular
new content from ssonetwork.com. As a subscriber, you will not ever miss a relevant article or interview. Register now.
