IMAX is a large format motion picture film format and projection standard with higher resolution than traditional film systems. It achieves its effect through large film format, a specialized six-channel sound system, a custom projection system designed for IMAX screens, and theaters specially built for IMAX screens. The IMAX 3D camera is a large, heavy camera capable of shooting at different frame rates on 1000ft or 2500ft film magazines using a dual 15 perf 65mm film movement. It has a 180 degree shutter and digital crystal speed selection. IMAX projectors use a dual projector system with proprietary image enhancement technology to project at increased brightness, contrast and resolution onto customized large IMAX screens, providing an immersive viewing experience.
