Project Description:
There is no DW in existence in the CAT environment. Caterpillar Logistics is looking to implement a BI
platform based on SAP BOBJ to address the following needs as part of the ongoing program for Master &
Operational Data Management. Some of the challenges this solution is expected to address include
Inconsistent visibility to Transportation Spend and Inadequate KPIs to benchmark Transportation.
The purpose of this project is design a Data model for CAT Data warehouse (DW) and to design and
develop ETL process to load data from CAT TM to the DW using Datastage 8.5 (DS).The scope of the
project also includes design and develop BO Universe layer on top of DW to build standard BO reports
from DW for the 8 KPIs.

The application mailbox will receive the ASN’s (EDI 856) and Receipt advice (EDI 861) from the
consolidation center. These ASN’s and Receipt advice will be extracted from the mailbox and stored in
the Database.
The goal of this project is to capture the details of every outbound container move from every global
consolidation center into a centralized database. The data will also be available for other business teams
to mine when trying to investigate solutions to other business problems in the consolidation space.

For the GMM Approved Shipping Order Process, a shipping order file will be received on a daily (hourly)
basis from GTNexus. The file will contain shipping orders that have been approved. The requirement here
is to accept and process the shipping order into TMOPS, creating or updating the shipping order and
marking the purchase order as approved(locked). This will prevent any future updates of the purchase
order being transmitted to GTNexus
