MONA HATOUM AT THE
TATE MODERN
Join our specialist for a guided tour of
‘Mona Hatoum’ at the Tate Modern. This
is the artist’s first major survey in the UK,
spanning 35 years from her early radical
performance and video pieces, to sculptures
and large-scale installations. Generating
conflicting emotions of fear and fascination,
the installations comprise strands of hair,
barbed wire, domestic objects and a cage-
like neon globe which buzzes with an intense
and seemingly dangerous energy.

JEFF KOONS AT
NEWPORT STREET
GALLERY
Time: 11am
Explore the Jeff Koons exhibition ‘Now’ at
Newport Street Gallery with an insightful
tour led by a contemporary art specialist
who will talk us through Koons’ practice
which challenges the limits of industrial
fabrication, whilst simultaneously blurring
the distinction between high art and mass
culture. From a monumental Tweety Bird
balloon produced in stainless steel, to
an installation comprising two vacuum
cleaners mounted against florescent
lights, the exhibition illuminates Koons’
radical approach to the readymade and his
enduring interest in popular culture. During
the talk, we will discuss Koons’ obsession
with the cult of the celebrity and how he
became one of the most influential, popular
and controversial artists of the post-war era.
