It could also link to their music as although it is fun, up-beat and bubbly it also has a slight sexy

Although each member of the band has different outfits, they are all wearing a similar watch on
their right arm. This shows how they are all a team and although they have different personalities
and styles, we can still see similarities between them to see the bands star image.

her confident, sexy side. The fact her top has been pulled at the bottom to create
a knot, gives a rouged effect to the middle, across her chest. This would grab
attention, again showing her confident, feisty side.
Her skirt matches with her top in the same bold, eye catching pink. Yet, the skirt
is not fitted like her top, it is a ‘skater skirt’ style which creates an elegant, flowy
look contrasting to the tight, cropped top. This highlights how although Katy
Perry has her feisty, fiery side to her she is still classy and elegant.
The brightness of the pink grabs attention and stands out, this could link to the
style of her music and how it is loud and fun, like the loudness of the pink she is
wearing. Connotations of pink are usually things such as, candyfloss, sweets and
bubble-gum. It is also stereotypically a very feminine colour. This suggests how
Katy has a young, girly side to her, it would also attract her young girl fans, as pink
is also seen as a young, girly colour. It also links to the genre of her music. She is a
pop artist and pink is one of several bright, fun and exciting colours usually
thought of relating to pop music.
Finally, her pastel turquoise stiletto heels add a touch of sophistication to her
look. It makes her stand tall and with confidence. The pastel colour also gives a

statement as it is the first thing we as an audience look at when we see the image. As it is bright
and colourful it links to the fun and loudness of pop music, clearly showing how he is a pop artist
and like the pop genre he is also full of energy and excitement. In addition to this, the hoodie is
half done up, therefore showing a bit of his t-shirt making him look rebellious and cool, suggesting
he wants all eyes on him as he dominates the image and it is stereotypically common for men to
feel like the dominator.
The sunglasses cover his eyes therefore we cannot see him looking directly into the camera at the
audience. Also, the fact he is wearing sunglasses inside, when he doesn’t need to shows how he is
not afraid to break the rules and he will do what he wants. It also makes him appear confident and
mysterious. The hat gives him a an edgy look, again adding to his strikingly eye catching image and
making him appear cool and youthful. As both the hat and the sunglasses are black and white it
creates a theme of consistency making him appear professional. Although, it is quite unusual for a
pop artist to feature lots of black as we usually associate the pop genre with bright, bubbly
colours. However, it makes the blue stand out more and makes it appear even more vibrant
showing how he too has a fun and bubbly side to his personality.
Finally the black trousers make him appear mysterious and bold. Linking to his music as it shows it
makes a statement and makes him look dominating.
