2. ARENA
• Referring to my Week 2 discussion and given the 3 occupation I’ve chosen there, I
will be working in the industries as follow:
• General:
• Marketing Industry
• Financial Industry
• Medical and Fashion Industry
• Specific:
• Marketing Manager at iHeartMedia
• Financial Manager at PwC
• Clinical Esthetician at BeautFix Medspa
3. IDENTITY
• Well when it comes to describing ME, there are many traits which I think I have and those make me unique. So, let’s start with the
first.
• 1. Agile Leaner:
• I am more likely to be the type of person who is always curious, with a strong desire to learn and build my knowledge base. I enjoy
trying new things and are quickly able to learn and develop your skills. I regularly gain feedback from others and take steps to further
your development.
• 2. Performance Driven Person:
• I am likely to be the type of person who is highly self-motivated toward reaching her goals. I take the time to plan how I will achieve
success and are focused on this outcome. I am motivated to set challenging targets, and always strive to achieve high-quality results.
• 3. Collaborator:
• I am a person who feels energetic by working with others. When I am looking for input I can engage the right people in my network,
keeping the success of a task or project in mind. I enjoy building effective networks and delivering results by working collaboratively.
• 4. Transparent:
• I am a person who is honest about what I do and how I do it. If I face challenges or setbacks, I am realistic about my approach and
transparent about how I handle them. I am motivated to ensure that everything I say and do is open and honest.
• This is the known part of me, and I believe this is what which makes me unique too.
4. SKILLS
• As explained much in detail in Identity part and in Research from 2nd week, I am the person who, in general, can add greater value to
the organization I work for- be it as a marketing/financial manager or Clinical Esthetician.
• Active Listening, Service Orientation, Active Learning, Reading Comprehension, and Organizing (which were mentioned in 2ND Week
Research) are the skills and abilities which I can claim are relevant to the future employer and customers.
• Moreover, the extra skills and abilities I mentioned in the Identity part are also the skills that will make me stand out in the future
employer I will work with.
• I support my argument by quoting Christopher Salem’s work; he writes in his article by bringing in the attention of the business world
and stakeholders about how important Transparency is in the corporate world. So, as said I am a transparent woman, I believe that this
skill of mine will be relevant for my future employer too. (Transparency Importance in Business, 2018)
• Adding more precision, according to Harvard Business Review of 2018 - 6 Fundamental Skill for Business Leaders, Agile Learner and
Performance Driven business people are successful in the corporate world. So, having said that I profoundly believe I have those skill
set, I think I would be relevant to my future employer. (6 Fundamental Skills Every Leader Should Practice, 2018)
• Finally, about the customers. I think my skills and in general my abilities are in line with the customers’ needs too. The customer wants
salesmen who are transparent and don’t undersell, who are better at the active listener and are good with service provisions. I believe
given my skill set mention above and last week research, I would be more than just relevant to them as well.
5. PROFESSION
• I am a student and how I am different than others is that I do my work proactively. I
discuss with my classmates, I work with my friend and I practice Reinforcement theory
by Freud actively and this is what my approach is “Getting the things done by me and
other through Reinforcement”.
6. CREXADENTIALS
• First of all the physical evidence, from 7 Ps service marketing, I have; the license for Spa. As mentioned, I am a service oriented
person and for the profession of Clinical Esthetician. For now, this makes me trustworthy for my future employer.
• However, to improve my credibility and trust I will work on my skills more.
• For agile learning skills, I will try to put myself in a situation where I need to learn something new or develop a new skill. This will
broaden my knowledge and expertise across new subjects.
• For teamwork, I will proactively share any negative experiences with others. By speaking openly about any challenges I might have
faced, I and my team can learn from that experience. Similarly, others will trust me more for your honesty, if communicated in the
right way.
• As said in the 2nd-week assignment, I am facing and improving my communication so the following things I will take to improve it:
• · From onwards, when I am trying to convey a message, I will think about the audience I am communicating with, and the
information I want to provide. How will this be received? Do I need to simplify the information, or is it important to include all the
details?
• · If I am ever unsure about whether I am communicating in the most appropriate way, I will ask other people for their feedback.
They will be able to help me understand how my message comes across.
• · I will also consider situations from alternative perspectives and backgrounds, to understand how certain messages may be
received from these viewpoints. How would I want to receive the information, if you were in the recipient’s position?
• Through these practices, I will improve my trust and creditability!
7. PROMISE
• From Employer Perspective:
• A promise I make to my future employer, iHeartsMedia, is that I will work my way and give extra hours to
improve the financial position of the company’s sub-brand iHeartRadio as a financial manager. In 2018,
iHeartsMedia faced a financial bankruptcy because of high leverage which surpassed $20 billion. The
problem (although from the company view wasn’t a problem) but it was because the debt-to-equity ratio of
its sub-brand was high. (iHeartMedia Bankrupt?, 2018)
• So as a Financial Manager, I will propose solutions to the problem backed by my good research.
• From Customers Perspective:
• According to Indeed ratings, iHeartsMedia’s overall rating is 3.7. From a customer perspective, although
many people are enjoying the music and entertainment they are providing but its recent music was called
“brutal music” by Digital Music News. I promise to work closely with the customers’ and get their insights
about the services iHeartsMedia is offering and I will work with marketing and product manager to help
them improve it.
• These are the real problems and the sources are also mentioned in the references tab.
8. POSITIONING
• I think that my experience, skills, and proactiveness to improve and, in particular, my ability to
organize myself in challenging times, make me a good match for any organization. As a student,
I am responsible for maintaining our results and work assignments timely. So, once I enter into
the work environment, I will be using this skill to fulfill the work I maybe ask for.
• Also, as said I am Active Listener, Service Orientated, Active Learner, Performance Driven and
Collaborate. So any company who looks for potential also look for these skill in an applicant.
Based on this, I profound believe that they will hire me.
• I want my audience to think of me as a trustworthy fellow, which actually is also my brand
differentiator. I want the stakeholders to trust me.
• In comparison to the competition, I believe I am a complete package occupied with the right
skill-set. My skill-set which I have quoted numerous times makes me different than my
competitors.
9. AUDIENCE
• Employers: Companies particularly, iHeartMedia, PwC, and Beautyfix medspa
• Customers: Stockholders, Traders, Music Lovers, Health Conscious people, Aspirers
• There are numerous factors influence them, for financial users Stock Market, Inflation
and other Economic Factors. Whereby, one general drive which affects everyone is
“Marketing”
• The audience can be found from different sources. One such source Is Facebook,
Instagram, and other social medium. However, for others, shopping places and
musical/entertainment events would be the right place to find them.
• Well, there are different opinions they hold. There’s no general opinion as the taste of
every client is different than the others. Therefore, their opinions and interest differ
too.
10. NETWORKING&MARKETING
• By an informal meeting, maybe, a better start to gain the attention of my future employer.
Finding a reference could also be very instrumental. Also, If I am getting an internship
opportunity at my future employer's so that would be the best option to gain the attention of
my future employers. Furthermore, engaging attention of customer could be a bit tricky job
but a face-to-face meeting or leading my employer-led flash mob might be instrumental to grab
the attention.
• The constant back and forth communication would be the best strategy to create a strong
strategy thus, I will be using those to create a strong relationship with the audience.
• Writing blogs and promoting opinion leadership strategy through YouTube will help me add
value to my audience.
• I will be attending musical/entertainment events to get consumer insights. On the contrary for
employers, I may be attending formal events and conferences to build my network.
11. COMPETITORS
• For a Marketing Manager job, I will be competing with other
applicants who are to graduate with a Marketing Degree.
• For sales I will be competing with the competitors namely
Entercom, Timesquare and HGST etc. (iHEARTmedia, 2018) who
are direct competitors of my future employers.
• One potential candidate who may be of my competition is John
Brooklyn from LA who is to graduate from University California
State University with Marketing in Fall 2019.
12. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
• There are other skills too which I think are important like Verbal Adaptability,
Diplomacy, Stress Management and the skill of being disciplined. Having these at
my back will also help me a lot to stand out from my competition. I will follow my
favorite mentors Malcolm Gladwell, Mel Robinson, Simon Sinek, Tony Robinson,
and Stephen Covey!
• Life is a journey of learning and I don’t know the exact time to fully improve
these skill but I believe with the right amount of time (which according to a
researcher is 40-400 days) I will improve!
13. GOALS
• To develop my personal brand I will do numerous things over the internet.
• First, I will make a pages on Social Media and daily manage those and will provide relevant
information about current affairs.
• Secondly, I will increase my friendlist of FB to 2000-+ on social media to have more
followers.
• Third, I will start writing my own blogs over blogger or buy my own domain from wix.
• Finally, I will use the official platform of LinkedIn and will increase my connection
specifically with people from same industry I am working by the end of 2019.
