- 1. Creating a Mobile Website What is mobile Website Design Mobile Website Design would be a separate website, designed specifically for smaller screens, with less images and text, and to allow people to get the information they're likely to be looking for faster.Mobile website is a single- column layout.
- 2. Steps for mobile website 1.Create URL for Mobile Website There are two methods for creating a url: First Method is: Create a Separate Subdomain(like m.yourwebsite.com). Create Subdomain as follows: Go to the control panel of your website, there is a option for subdomain under Domain section. click on subdomain and create m.yourwebsite.com.
- 3. Second Method is: Create a Separate Page for users accessing a site through their mobile(like yourwebsite.com/mobile.html). Hence, when a user types the url of a site in there mobile, they will be redirected to another site(m.yourwebsite.com) or separate page(yourwebsite.com/mobile.html).
- 4. 2.Place Redirecting Script <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- if (screen.width <= 600) { window.location = "http://m.yourwebsite.com"; } //--> </script> Place the above redirect code between the <HEAD> and </HEAD> tags of the index page of your desktop website. (320 : width is standard size of mobile Phone)
- 5. 3.Design a mobile website Some instructions before designing for a mobile website : Don’t give width & height to the div’s or otherwise keep width of all div’s to 100%. (the site will automatically take full width of screen) For images, keep img{ max-width:100%;} (The max-width CSS property is used to set the maximum width of a given element. Don’t give width and height to a particular image. (Because the image will try to fit into the screen and get distorted)
