SANDS
SECONDARY
SCHOOL
(Sands Secondary School Logo, Delta School District Website, N/A, 2022)
Address: 10840 82 Ave, Delta, BC V4C 2B3
Sands Secondary school is a public sector located in North Delta, British
Columbia. Sands Secondary is a public sector because it is a
“communal good of society – enhancing the quality of life and well-
being of citizens” (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 3). The provincial government
created the school to “indirectly or directly delivers leisure and
recreation services” to provide a better life for the citizens that attend
(Lunn, 2022, Pg. 3). The school helps with recreation and leisure through
reading in the library, playing team sports, woodshop, metal shop, and
many more elective classes that are enjoyable for the students. The
recreation is created to help reinforce values, establish/maintain a
healthy lifestyle, opportunity to unfortunate individuals who many be
poor, physically or mentally disabled, and provide recreation at an
affordable cost or free through the school programs (Lunn, 2022). The
school has clubs and playing times after schools for individuals to drop
by and play the activity they love for no charge compared to private
sectors who profit and cost more money.
Public Sector:
SANDS SECONDARY SCHOOL CONT.
Sands Secondary school is connected to education, recreation, and coaching. Sands is connected to
education as the school provides classes for learning and future purposes such as math, science,
English, and physical education classes. Physical education is important to develop the
basic/advanced physical literacy as students are older, they should become more capable knowing
all the basics and further enhance them. It is important for them to achieve physical competence to
gain confidence in not only the activity but in other aspects of life and create motivation to
obtain/value knowledge (Lunn, 2022). Students come to school everyday with the opportunity to get
closer to becoming their ideal self-image such as improving there listening, studying, reading,
fundamental movements, and many more life skills. They all obtain a different actual self-image but
may be working towards the same ideal self-image as everyone has a different story of their life
(Lunn, 2022).
Connections:
SANDS SECONDARY SCHOOL CONT.
Sands is involved with participACTION which was created in 1971as they made it is a requirement for
individuals in order to graduate high school (Lunn, 2022). This has helped many students physical and
mental health through active activities.
The connection through recreation is that they have many recreation activities as some were mentioned
earlier are fine arts, painting, sports, games, reading, woodshop, computer technology, and many
more. Recreation is achieved by allowing everyone accessibility, opportunity, equal service provision,
offer’s a barrier-free environment and has effective communication channels (Lunn, 2022).
Coaching through Sands secondary school mostly consists through physical education and the school
sports teams/clubs. The two streams from the national coaching certification program (NCCP) are
instruction and competition depending on the age group as grade 8-9 are learning and 10-12 are
competing (CAOC , 2020). They are all following the five core competences problem solving, valuing,
critical thinking, leading, and interacting (CAOC, 2020). They have also given graduated students
opportunities to better their life skills by allowing them to develop as coaches.
Connections:
NORTH DELTA
RECREATION
CENTRE
(Sunset & flower angle of North Delta Rec Centre, North Delta, City of Delta, 2022)
Address: 11415 84 Ave, Delta, BC V4C 2L9
The North Delta Recreation Centre (NDRC) is a public sector located
in North Delta, British Columbia. The NDRC is a modern designed rec
centre for individuals who want to establish and maintain their healthy
lifestyle (Lunn, 2022). The NDRC was funded by the municipal
government to “directly deliver leisure and recreation services” for all
the individuals that would like to attend at a cheap cost (Lunn, 2022,
Pg. 3). The NDRC includes a gymnasium, weight room, studio,
swimming pool, and an ice rink as well. One membership gives access
to all the variety of sections at the rec Centre, and they can go as
much as they want to which is mostly catered towards young adults.
The costs for a daily drop in is free for everyone under the age of 18,
but around 5 dollars for anyone older. The low prices are subsided by
the municipal government who “[acts] as a catalyst for recreation
development in the community [and encourages] the development of
recreation programs and facilities” (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 5). The NDRC
“services is dependent upon citizen participation, the commitment and
capability of the community volunteers” (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 6).
Public Sector:
NORTH DELTA RECREATION CENTRE CONT.
Connections:
The North Delta Recreation Centre is connected to education, recreation, and coaching. The NDRC is
linked to education because through playing sports or lifting weight no matter the activity one has a
chance to learn. The learn can be as little as learning how to appropriately communicate with others or
someone may explain how each muscle group is being used. There is always a time or place where one
can receive knowledge through activities at the rec centre.
Recreation is the main reason for the NDRC for the general public mostly students to better themselves
through free programs, swimming, basketball, lifting weights, ice skating, and ball hockey. The recreation
centre makes sure that every activity is accessible to everyone, opportunity, equal service provision,
offer’s a barrier-free environment and has effective communication channels (Lunn, 2022). They help
individuals mental and physical health which is great for one’s overall health. Many may also attend the
rec centre to push their actual self to become their ideal self-image if that’s through swimming, working
out or any other activity available (Lunn, 2022).
Coaching may take place when a less experienced individual meet an experienced individual who may
give them pointers on how to become better at a skill they’re trying to obtain. A great example is by
helping them see a different perspective as they develop their five core competences problem solving,
valuing, critical thinking, leading, and interacting (CAOC, 2020).
DELSOM PARK
“DENNIS ELSOM TURF”
(Soccer ball on the corner kick of field, Delsom Park, Arman Dosanjh, 2019)
Address: 11311 84 Ave, Delta, BC V4C
Public Sector:
Delsom Park “Dennis Elsom Turf” is a public sector located in North
Delta, British Columbia. It was initially called Delsom Park but officially
it is now called “Dennis Elsom Turf.” Delsom park is a public sector
because it the municipal government directly delivers recreation
services to the community as it is free of charge to go play on (Lunn,
2022). The general public can use the field for whatever activity they
attend to as long as its appropriate and bind to the field rules. One
can go and play multiple sports whenever they like as it “enhances the
quality of life and well-being of citizens” (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 3). The park
has soccer nets, batting corner for baseball/softball, and field hockey
nets that may be used by the individuals if they need to. The field is
great to play recreation activities and develop physical literacy by
developing physical competence through different sports/activities,
after gaining confidence they may start to feel more motivated to
value new knowledge (Lunn, 2022). The park is great for “bringing
beauty to an area while giving people satisfaction and improving their
quality of life” (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 4).
DELSOM PARK ”DENNIS ELSOM TURF” CONT.
Connections:
Delsom Park is connected to recreation, and coaching. Dennis Elsom turf field is more recreational as it is a
full soccer field/practice baseball/softball field which can be utilized in many ways. The field is open to
the general public as the municipal government helps through taxes pay for the field to be free to
everyone. The field is utilized to develop one's lifestyle mentally and physically as it is accessible to
everyone, provide opportunity, equal service provision, offer’s a barrier-free environment and has
effective communication channels (Lunn, 2022). The park is a nice way to get away from reality for people
and “can contribute to the environment health of our communities [which]is an essential, life-sustaining role”
(Lunn, 2022, Pg. 4). The field may help unfortunate individuals who many be poor, physically or mentally
disabled, and provide recreation for free through the school taxes (Lunn, 2022).
Delsom Park is effective when it comes to coaching through recreational sports such as parents or volunteers
with experience teaching the individuals with less experience. This gives the users a chance to develop their
five core competences problem solving, valuing, critical thinking, leading, and interacting (CAOC, 2020).
The field is also utilized for organized/community games which can help users competitively and
instructionally as well (CAOC, 2020).

their own facility (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 6). Aya barbershop is a recreation
service as they give a haircut or line up beard for the person to get
paid in return of the service. The commercial service benefits both

so attending the barbershop helps reach closer to become the ideal

paying their employees then having cash left to pocket in the end. The
Immaculate conception school is intended to make profit for their

well. All these recreation activities are accessible to everyone at the school, provides them opportunities,
ensures equal service provision, offers a barrier-free environment, and consists of effective communication
channels (Lunn, 2022). It is important for the children to grow/develop their basic physical literacy
through these recreational activities to be able to learn physical competence, then develop confidence
and value knowledge (Lunn, 2022). Ultimately, “recreation lifestyles creates learning experiences that
foster deeper understanding and respect” especially for children at a younger age who like playing and
being active (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 20). The coaching aspect relates to the sports/athletics program where the
coaches teach them new fundamental movements. The factor to take out is as they are in elementary
minimal learning can only be accomplished thus only instruction stage of athlete development can occur

  • 4. SANDS SECONDARY SCHOOL (Sands Secondary School Logo, Delta School District Website, N/A, 2022) Address: 10840 82 Ave, Delta, BC V4C 2B3 Sands Secondary school is a public sector located in North Delta, British Columbia. Sands Secondary is a public sector because it is a “communal good of society – enhancing the quality of life and well- being of citizens” (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 3). The provincial government created the school to “indirectly or directly delivers leisure and recreation services” to provide a better life for the citizens that attend (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 3). The school helps with recreation and leisure through reading in the library, playing team sports, woodshop, metal shop, and many more elective classes that are enjoyable for the students. The recreation is created to help reinforce values, establish/maintain a healthy lifestyle, opportunity to unfortunate individuals who many be poor, physically or mentally disabled, and provide recreation at an affordable cost or free through the school programs (Lunn, 2022). The school has clubs and playing times after schools for individuals to drop by and play the activity they love for no charge compared to private sectors who profit and cost more money. Public Sector:
  • 5. SANDS SECONDARY SCHOOL CONT. Sands Secondary school is connected to education, recreation, and coaching. Sands is connected to education as the school provides classes for learning and future purposes such as math, science, English, and physical education classes. Physical education is important to develop the basic/advanced physical literacy as students are older, they should become more capable knowing all the basics and further enhance them. It is important for them to achieve physical competence to gain confidence in not only the activity but in other aspects of life and create motivation to obtain/value knowledge (Lunn, 2022). Students come to school everyday with the opportunity to get closer to becoming their ideal self-image such as improving there listening, studying, reading, fundamental movements, and many more life skills. They all obtain a different actual self-image but may be working towards the same ideal self-image as everyone has a different story of their life (Lunn, 2022). Connections:
  • 6. SANDS SECONDARY SCHOOL CONT. Sands is involved with participACTION which was created in 1971as they made it is a requirement for individuals in order to graduate high school (Lunn, 2022). This has helped many students physical and mental health through active activities. The connection through recreation is that they have many recreation activities as some were mentioned earlier are fine arts, painting, sports, games, reading, woodshop, computer technology, and many more. Recreation is achieved by allowing everyone accessibility, opportunity, equal service provision, offer’s a barrier-free environment and has effective communication channels (Lunn, 2022). Coaching through Sands secondary school mostly consists through physical education and the school sports teams/clubs. The two streams from the national coaching certification program (NCCP) are instruction and competition depending on the age group as grade 8-9 are learning and 10-12 are competing (CAOC , 2020). They are all following the five core competences problem solving, valuing, critical thinking, leading, and interacting (CAOC, 2020). They have also given graduated students opportunities to better their life skills by allowing them to develop as coaches. Connections:
  • 7. NORTH DELTA RECREATION CENTRE (Sunset & flower angle of North Delta Rec Centre, North Delta, City of Delta, 2022) Address: 11415 84 Ave, Delta, BC V4C 2L9 The North Delta Recreation Centre (NDRC) is a public sector located in North Delta, British Columbia. The NDRC is a modern designed rec centre for individuals who want to establish and maintain their healthy lifestyle (Lunn, 2022). The NDRC was funded by the municipal government to “directly deliver leisure and recreation services” for all the individuals that would like to attend at a cheap cost (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 3). The NDRC includes a gymnasium, weight room, studio, swimming pool, and an ice rink as well. One membership gives access to all the variety of sections at the rec Centre, and they can go as much as they want to which is mostly catered towards young adults. The costs for a daily drop in is free for everyone under the age of 18, but around 5 dollars for anyone older. The low prices are subsided by the municipal government who “[acts] as a catalyst for recreation development in the community [and encourages] the development of recreation programs and facilities” (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 5). The NDRC “services is dependent upon citizen participation, the commitment and capability of the community volunteers” (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 6). Public Sector:
  • 8. NORTH DELTA RECREATION CENTRE CONT. Connections: The North Delta Recreation Centre is connected to education, recreation, and coaching. The NDRC is linked to education because through playing sports or lifting weight no matter the activity one has a chance to learn. The learn can be as little as learning how to appropriately communicate with others or someone may explain how each muscle group is being used. There is always a time or place where one can receive knowledge through activities at the rec centre. Recreation is the main reason for the NDRC for the general public mostly students to better themselves through free programs, swimming, basketball, lifting weights, ice skating, and ball hockey. The recreation centre makes sure that every activity is accessible to everyone, opportunity, equal service provision, offer’s a barrier-free environment and has effective communication channels (Lunn, 2022). They help individuals mental and physical health which is great for one’s overall health. Many may also attend the rec centre to push their actual self to become their ideal self-image if that’s through swimming, working out or any other activity available (Lunn, 2022). Coaching may take place when a less experienced individual meet an experienced individual who may give them pointers on how to become better at a skill they’re trying to obtain. A great example is by helping them see a different perspective as they develop their five core competences problem solving, valuing, critical thinking, leading, and interacting (CAOC, 2020).
  • 9. DELSOM PARK “DENNIS ELSOM TURF” (Soccer ball on the corner kick of field, Delsom Park, Arman Dosanjh, 2019) Address: 11311 84 Ave, Delta, BC V4C Public Sector: Delsom Park “Dennis Elsom Turf” is a public sector located in North Delta, British Columbia. It was initially called Delsom Park but officially it is now called “Dennis Elsom Turf.” Delsom park is a public sector because it the municipal government directly delivers recreation services to the community as it is free of charge to go play on (Lunn, 2022). The general public can use the field for whatever activity they attend to as long as its appropriate and bind to the field rules. One can go and play multiple sports whenever they like as it “enhances the quality of life and well-being of citizens” (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 3). The park has soccer nets, batting corner for baseball/softball, and field hockey nets that may be used by the individuals if they need to. The field is great to play recreation activities and develop physical literacy by developing physical competence through different sports/activities, after gaining confidence they may start to feel more motivated to value new knowledge (Lunn, 2022). The park is great for “bringing beauty to an area while giving people satisfaction and improving their quality of life” (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 4).
  • 10. DELSOM PARK ”DENNIS ELSOM TURF” CONT. Connections: Delsom Park is connected to recreation, and coaching. Dennis Elsom turf field is more recreational as it is a full soccer field/practice baseball/softball field which can be utilized in many ways. The field is open to the general public as the municipal government helps through taxes pay for the field to be free to everyone. The field is utilized to develop one's lifestyle mentally and physically as it is accessible to everyone, provide opportunity, equal service provision, offer’s a barrier-free environment and has effective communication channels (Lunn, 2022). The park is a nice way to get away from reality for people and “can contribute to the environment health of our communities [which]is an essential, life-sustaining role” (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 4). The field may help unfortunate individuals who many be poor, physically or mentally disabled, and provide recreation for free through the school taxes (Lunn, 2022). Delsom Park is effective when it comes to coaching through recreational sports such as parents or volunteers with experience teaching the individuals with less experience. This gives the users a chance to develop their five core competences problem solving, valuing, critical thinking, leading, and interacting (CAOC, 2020). The field is also utilized for organized/community games which can help users competitively and instructionally as well (CAOC, 2020).
  • 11. COMMERCIAL SERVICE SECTORS (PROFIT/PRIVATE) (Cactus Club parking lot at night, North Delta, Arman Dosanjh, 2022)
  • 12. AYA BARBER & STYLISTS (Outside of barbershop, North Delta, Akash Dosanjh, 2022) Address: 9455 120 St, Delta, BC V4C 6S2 Commercial Service Sector: Aya Barber & Stylists is a profit commercial service sector located in North Delta, British Columbia. Aya Barber & Stylists is a profit commercial service sector because it is a “recreation for which the consumer pays and for which the supplier expects to make a profit” at their own facility (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 6). Aya barbershop is a recreation service as they give a haircut or line up beard for the person to get paid in return of the service. The commercial service benefits both sides as the persona getting the haircut feels better about themselves which helps them with their confidence. When going to the barbershop one is not, pleased with their actual self-image as the hair is not ideal, so attending the barbershop helps reach closer to become the ideal self-image in their head (Lunn, 2022). The barbershop costs vary on the haircut, beard, and the time it takes to perform as it cuts into other client’s appointment times. The main barber is the individual owner of the shop and is available to anyone who can afford it.
  • 13. AYA BARBER & STYLISTS CONT. Connections: Aya Barber and Stylists is only connected to leisure and recreational. It is a leisure/recreation activity as most people go to have a good time. People to to socialize with their barbers and the others that are also attending. It is a commercial service which makes the person who's paying feel better after the service is completed. The commercial recreation provides “quality products/services, [remains] affordable, [offers] unique products/services, [recognizes] leisure/recreation trends/fads, aware of social trends and demographics” (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 8). When getting a haircut, one may feel relaxed, gain life satisfaction, and achieve their full potential as it helps them in more than their physical appearance (Lunn, 2022). The commercial recreation service provides access to everyone, provide opportunities for jobs, ensure equal service provision, offer a barrier-free environment, and consist of effective communication channels (Lunn, 2022).
  • 14. IMMACULATE CONCEPTION SCHOOL (The Immaculate Conception School building, Immaculate Conception School Website, Jacob, 2021) Address: 8840 119 St, Delta, BC V4C 6M4 Commercial Service Sector Immaculate is a private commercial service sector located in North Delta, British Columbia. Immaculate is a private commercial service sector because it is run by individuals and corporations instead of the government (Lunn, 2022). The people that attend the school must be able to afford the prices as they are profiting off each student by paying their employees then having cash left to pocket in the end. The Immaculate conception school is intended to make profit for their organization as they provide at their own facilty. The service they provide is a school structured differently than the public school run by governments and a catholic independent elementary school. The school has a BC education saving plan to help with the expenses of attending the school by allowing $1200 per child (Jacob, 2021).
  • 15. IMMACULATE CONCEPTION SCHOOL CONT. Connections: Immaculate Conception school is connected to education, recreation, and coaching. Immaculate Conception is linked to education as they provide learning including English, math, science, physical education, and religion (catholic) classes. In the classes they learn to better their knowledge for their personal development which leads us over to recreation. Immaculate Conception has many recreation activities including sports programs, performing arts, singing, chores, painting, reading, and colouring as well. All these recreation activities are accessible to everyone at the school, provides them opportunities, ensures equal service provision, offers a barrier-free environment, and consists of effective communication channels (Lunn, 2022). It is important for the children to grow/develop their basic physical literacy through these recreational activities to be able to learn physical competence, then develop confidence and value knowledge (Lunn, 2022). Ultimately, “recreation lifestyles creates learning experiences that foster deeper understanding and respect” especially for children at a younger age who like playing and being active (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 20). The coaching aspect relates to the sports/athletics program where the coaches teach them new fundamental movements. The factor to take out is as they are in elementary minimal learning can only be accomplished thus only instruction stage of athlete development can occur (CAOC, 2020).
  • 16. CACTUS CLUB CAFÉ Chocolate peanut butter crunch bar, North Delta Cactus Club Café, Arman Dosanjh, 2022) Address: 7907 120 St, Delta, BC V4C 6N6 Commercial Service Sector: Cactus Club Café is a profit commercial service sector located in North Delta, British Columbia. Cactus Club Café is a profit commercial service sector because it is run by individuals and corporations instead of the government (Lunn, 2022). The owner of the Cactus Club Café makes the decisions supposed to the government which is why they try to profit as much as possible. It is a commercial service sector that caters “for innovative leisure and recreation goods, supplies, and services” (Lunn, 2022, Pg. 6). Cactus Club is catered towards the general public/anyone that can afford it as they provide services at their own facilities (Lunn, 2022).
