 OnePlus Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.,
commonly referred to as OnePlus, is a
Chinese smartphone manufacturer, which is
based in Shenzhen, Guangdong. It was
founded by Pete Lau (CEO) and Carl Pei in
December 2013. The company officially serves
34 countries and regions around the world as
of July 2018.They have released numerous
phones, amongst other products

PETE LAU ( CEO ONEPLUS
)
He is a Chinese entrepreneur and
business executive. He is the co-founder
and Chief Executive Officer of
Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus.
Lau started working in Oppo
Electronics as a hardware engineer.
He later became the director of
Oppo's Blu-ray division.
He then became head of marketing
before finally getting assigned as the Vice
President.
As the Vice President he was
instrumental in bringing CyanogenMod,
an Android-based operating system
to Oppo N1 smartphone.
He resigned from Oppo in November
2013 after working in the company for
over a decade.
Carl Pei
Carl Pei is a Chinese-born Swedish
computer programmer and internet
entrepreneur. He co-
founded OnePlus, along with Pete
Lau, in 2013 and is the current
director of OnePlus Global.
Pei joined Nokia in 2010, and worked
at the company for three months
 After Nokia, the fan website Pei had
created about Meizu had caught the
attention of the company's Hong
Kong branch, where Pei started
working in Meizu's marketing team in
2011.
In November 2012, Pei
joined Oppo as its international
markets manager, where he worked
directly under Pete Lau.
Pei co-founded OnePlus with Pete
Lau in December 2013.
 Invitation system
 Early phones were only available through a system whereby customers had to sign
up for an invite to purchase the phone at irregular intervals. The system was
claimed to be necessary for the young company to manage huge demand. OnePlus
ended the invite system with the launch of OnePlus 3 on 14 June 2016. The phone
was made available for sale later that day in China, North America and
the European union on the OnePlus website, and in India on Amazon India.
 "Smash the Past”
 On 23 April 2014, OnePlus began its "Smash the Past" campaign.The promotion
asked selected participants to destroy their phones on video in an effort to
purchase the OnePlus One for $1 (US). Due to confusion, several videos were
published by unselected users misinterpreting the promotion and destroying their
phones before the promotion start date. OnePlus later revised the rules of their
promotion by allowing consumers to donate their old phones.There were 140,000
entrants in the contest with 100 winners.
 Ladies First
 On 13 August 2014, OnePlus hosted a contest to give invites, which were hard to
come by at the time, to their female forum members. Users were asked to post a
photo of themselves with the OnePlus logo, images would be shared in the forum
and could be "liked" by other forum members

 The customer support at OnePlus was once the
subject of strong criticism. In 2017, the
company increased the number of customer
service staff and set-up customer service and
repair centers in Asia, Europe and the United
States, greatly improving turnaround times for
repairs and other issues.
 After several weeks of customer complaints on
OnePlus forums and on Reddit, Google
engineer Benson Leung showed that the USB-
C cable and USB-C-to-Micro-USB adapter
offered by OnePlus at that time did not
conform to the USB specification. OnePlus co-
founder Carl Pei on 26 November 2015
admitted that the cable and adapter did not
conform to the USB specification, and offered
refunds (although not for cables bundled with
the OnePlus 2 phone)

  • 5. PETE LAU ( CEO ONEPLUS ) He is a Chinese entrepreneur and business executive. He is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus. Lau started working in Oppo Electronics as a hardware engineer. He later became the director of Oppo's Blu-ray division. He then became head of marketing before finally getting assigned as the Vice President. As the Vice President he was instrumental in bringing CyanogenMod, an Android-based operating system to Oppo N1 smartphone. He resigned from Oppo in November 2013 after working in the company for over a decade.
  • 6. Carl Pei Carl Pei is a Chinese-born Swedish computer programmer and internet entrepreneur. He co- founded OnePlus, along with Pete Lau, in 2013 and is the current director of OnePlus Global. Pei joined Nokia in 2010, and worked at the company for three months  After Nokia, the fan website Pei had created about Meizu had caught the attention of the company's Hong Kong branch, where Pei started working in Meizu's marketing team in 2011. In November 2012, Pei joined Oppo as its international markets manager, where he worked directly under Pete Lau. Pei co-founded OnePlus with Pete Lau in December 2013.
  • 7.  Invitation system  Early phones were only available through a system whereby customers had to sign up for an invite to purchase the phone at irregular intervals. The system was claimed to be necessary for the young company to manage huge demand. OnePlus ended the invite system with the launch of OnePlus 3 on 14 June 2016. The phone was made available for sale later that day in China, North America and the European union on the OnePlus website, and in India on Amazon India.  "Smash the Past”  On 23 April 2014, OnePlus began its "Smash the Past" campaign.The promotion asked selected participants to destroy their phones on video in an effort to purchase the OnePlus One for $1 (US). Due to confusion, several videos were published by unselected users misinterpreting the promotion and destroying their phones before the promotion start date. OnePlus later revised the rules of their promotion by allowing consumers to donate their old phones.There were 140,000 entrants in the contest with 100 winners.  Ladies First  On 13 August 2014, OnePlus hosted a contest to give invites, which were hard to come by at the time, to their female forum members. Users were asked to post a photo of themselves with the OnePlus logo, images would be shared in the forum and could be "liked" by other forum members

In 2017, the company increased the number of customer service staff and set-up customer service and repair centers in Asia, Europe and the United States, greatly improving turnaround times for repairs and other issues.
  • 11.  After several weeks of customer complaints on OnePlus forums and on Reddit, Google engineer Benson Leung showed that the USB- C cable and USB-C-to-Micro-USB adapter offered by OnePlus at that time did not conform to the USB specification. OnePlus co- founder Carl Pei on 26 November 2015 admitted that the cable and adapter did not conform to the USB specification, and offered refunds (although not for cables bundled with the OnePlus 2 phone)
