2. Step 1
• I started by creating
facing pages in Quark
Xpress.
• I then created 3
columns within my
text box, to make it
within the codes and
conventions.

3. Step 2
• After importing my
text I inserted image
boxes.
• The images help to
improve the overall
effectiveness if the
magazine.

4. Step 3
• I changed the size if
the text to it is within
the codes and
conventions.
• This also helps make
it look more
professional.

5. Step 4
• I created a drop cap
to improve the overall
appearance.
• The drop cap is used
to meet the codes
and conventions.
• I also added drop
quotes to help entice
the reader.

6. Step 5
• To improve the look
of the text, I made it
more interesting and
stand out by making
the text bold.

7. Step 6
• I made the images
more suitable by
cropping them- this
also helped me fit all
the text onto the
pages.

8. Step 7
• I decided to change
my standfirst.
• To make the band
stand out I made the
name of the band/
members a different
colour- still keeping in
with the colour
scheme.

9. Step 8
• I decided to change
my headline.
• In Photoshop I used
to ‘magic wand’ tool
to make the
background
transparent; I kept the
same font and colour.
