1. Dr. Asuncion Lera St. Clair is Senior Principal Scientist at the
Climate Programme of DNV GL Group Technology and Research.
Philosopher and sociologist, she has over 15 years of experience
on solutions oriented research in the interface between poverty,
development and climate change, and more recently on the linkages between science,
technology and the private sector. Her work has contributed to the development of ISSC social
science agenda for global change and ICSU science review of the SDGs. She was Lead Author for
IPCC AR5, and Scientific Director of the Comparative Research Programme on Poverty (CROP)
under the International Social Science Council and professor at the University of Bergen. Asun

project under the International Human Dimensions Programme for a number of years. She also
was President of the International Development Ethics Association (IDEA). Her current work
focuses on private sector engagement for climate and sustainable development solutions, in
particular on the co-production of climate services with the private sector, and on hybrid forms
of climate governance where the private sector has a key role to play, guidelines and standards.
Asun co-developed the framework for structuring the Assessment of the UN Global Compact
done by DNV GL IMPACT: Transforming Business, Changing the World - The United Nations
Global Compact (2015), and more recently led the development of the Climate Technology
Center and Network (CTCN) Private Sector Engagement Strategy and co-developed the concept
of the CTCN Engagement Forum. Asun was Professor of Sociology at the University of Bergen
until 2011, and Research Director at CICERO-Oslo Climate Research Center with a special focus
on Climate and Development. She continues her dedication to sustainable development, ethics
and justice issues through serving at the Programme Advisory Committee and the Board of
