2. Bookmarks
• “A spatial bookmark identifies a particular geographic location that one want to
save and reference later.”
• At a specific scale, or any extent one wants.
• Every bookmark is stored in the current Arc Map Document.
• Every Data Frame owns its lists of bookmarks.
• Bookmarks can only be added in Data View, not in Layout View.
• Layout view only reflects the bookmarks from current and active data frame

3. Why to bookmark?
• A bookmark is way to define areas of your workspace for easy access.
• It divides a workspace into different, clearly marked sections, mostly on the basis
of scale.
• It acts as marker to easily access an area.
• It organizes the workspace, so to carry on work on time.
• Helps one to find a particular geographic location for further use, without panning
(Pan = Move) the whole area every time.

4. Managing bookmarks
• Bookmarks can be saved, load, and exported to other data frames.
• Bookmarks are exported to an ArcGIS Place File with extension of (.dat).
• The Bookmarks Manager allows you to:
• Add,
• Remove,
• Rename,
• Navigate to,
• Save, and
• Load spatial bookmarks.
