In other
words,
e-learning
INTRODUCTION:
In the last 20 years, the Internet has grown from
being nearly non-existent into the largest, most
accessible database of information ever created.
It has changed the way people communicate,
shop, socialise, do business and think about
knowledge and learning. Much more than just a
new twist on distance learning, online schooling
is changing the face of traditional classrooms
and making education more accessible than ever
before.
Online Education, the name explains itself. Studying online, i.e
with the help of internet, using Laptop, Desktop or mobile.
It is of three major types,
1. Random information gain(eg. Google, Youtube)
2. User oriented (eg. User ID and Password)
3. Video conference, audio file, pdf file
The first category is mostly used and more helpful. Student
search through google and youtube on random topics. There are
a lot of portals, pdfs, ebooks and PPTs there on google. And a lot
of People are uploading educational videos on Youtube everyday,
on various topics. These are very easily accessible and user
friendly medium to learn.
The second category is the online courses. Many
Institutions or companies held online courses to teach
students. All we need to do is generating and ID and
Password and pay reasonable money(free courses are
also there) and we can access those lectures by
Professional teachers.
The third catagory is actually a extention of classroom.
Here the class teachers provides various pdfs, images,
video links, audio messages related to the topics. Also
through video conferencing the process of e-learning is
continued.
Advantages of e-learning
Online education has many advantages:-
1. Online study saves your time which can be used to learn
some other things. On class as a general teachers
teaches us some topics which we may know well. In
online learning we can skip those parts, unlike physical
classes.
2. Selectivity: Online education provides selectivity to the
students. They can from any teacher of any Institute any
time. Again learning from various sources increases
clarity of the topic. It would not be possible if there were
no e-learning.
3. Online teachers will always and have to deliver best out
of them which is not always the case in physical
classroom. Because they obviously want to make their
Institution or channel superior than others.
Online education always tries to walk along the needs and
Demands. They are updated daily. Hence online learning
can make us learn about present situation and needs and
we can improve ourselves according to it.
Wide range of languages are available. And we can learn
them easily at our convenience.
 Question Answer discussion: Many lectures consists of
discussion of Questions from renowned Institutions which
definitely increases our skills.
Improves our skills to think out the box.
Many out of syllabus but very important topics can also
be learned through this.
Disadvantages of online education:
Learners with low motivation or enthusiasm and bad study
habbits will easily fall behind.
Student will find themselves isolated from the class.
Environment is a big factor in study, and that will be lacking in
Online Learning Process.
Instructors may not always be present. Lack of Discipline affects
the teaching. Online teachers can not mack students learn
unless they try of their own.
Slow network and older computer or laptor or smart phone will
affect the quality of study and will demotivate the students.
Virtual lab is totally ‘VIRTUAL’, but laboratory must be practical,
so its a big issue.
No meeting with classmates, so students will find the session
monotonous.
Networking problem is a big hurdle in the way of online
learning. Not everywhere or everytime network is fast,
hence students can not understand whatever is taught.
Random disconnection, lagging, vague screenshot etc.
Again student to teacher conversation is not always
available, like in youtube. Hence we can not make out
everything taught by the lecturer.
Many rural students don’t have access to Wifi or they
don’t have computers, laptops, smrt phones. Hence we
can’t say e-learning is a global learing process.
If topics are not learnt from Expert teachers, we may end
up learning wrong and build wrong concept.
Online education vs Physical Class learning
Based on personal opinion some may say online
learning is better. Some other will be in the side of
Physical learning.
But to be correct, both are good and needed to
learn better, provided you learn smartly and with
attention. As in Physical Class learning, we can clear
our doubts instantly with a good eduction- friendly
atmosphere. Whereas by online learning we can
learn more efficiently along with saving time.
What we can do for better learning is learning in
classroom to the best as we can. And then learn the
same things online from quality teachers and practice
questions for clarity in concept.
The solution:
Steps for betterment of rural students:
It will be very helpful for rural students if internate is
provided at low reasonable cost. As this is for the
betterment of future citizens of ths nation itself.
And since Television is available in most of the houses,
online teaching courses can be telecasted by some specific
channels so that curious students can learn at home.
Already, there are some programmes avilable on Television.
So, it should be done to a greater scale, and through
Advertising about it, it should be promoted. Local clubs
can also be used to for telecasting the lectures at a
particular time everyday.
Then the moto of DIGITAL INDIA will also become more
Significant.
Thanks for watching....
