this is my final presentation of the final movie opening i made in my A level first year. it is for all the media students who want help and want to learn more about my video and my experience.
2. Q1:HOW DO YOUR PRODUCT USE OR CHALLENGE CONVENTIONS AND
HOW DO THEY REPRESENT SOCIAL GROUPS OR ISSUES?
•In my movie opening “True Blood”I have utilized few conventions
of a horror movie such as under lighting, low key lighting and the
dramatic horror music which played in the background, moreover I
showed a typical representation of teenager groups and the
stereotypical representation of the girl and the boy by showing how
the beauty attracted the young man and it lured him to follow the
girl even though she was dangerous. However, I have also
challenged the conventions by shooting the a horror film in high
key lighting. The film had non diegetic music with the narration.
There was no dialogue only background music to create tension
and suspense.
5. Q2: HOW DOES YOUR PRODUCT ENGAGE WITH AUDIENCE
AND HOW IT BE DISTRIBUTED AS A REAL MEDIA TEXT?
•If I were to choose a distribution company to help advertise my product it would be
Paramount pictures, as it is mainly known for its thriller, horror and fantasy movies.
Moreover it is one of the big six and has the largest market share in US film industry. My
film will be promoted widely and I will get a good amount of return on my hardwork.
Secondly this genre is mainly to attract young teenagers based on my research most
fantasy and horror movies and shows are liked and watched by teens just like The
Vampire Diaries. My product can also attract other age groups who prefer watching horror
movies. I will upload my movies over the internet and social media so that more young
audience is attract towards it and I can distribute my movie easily.
6. Q3: HOW DID YOUR PRODUCTION SKILLS
DEVELOP THROUGHOUT THIS PROJECT.
•I was always anxious to know what happens in media industry and I had
passion to take media studies as my major subject. Firstly, I learned about
headroom which is a little space between the frame and the subject to make
it look neat and tidy.
7. •Secondly, I learned about the rule of third which
means that the object should be on the one third of
the frame.
8. •I also learned about the types of shots such as high angle shot
which establishes that the subject is small and in weak position.
Another type of and shot is the low angle shot which shows the
superiority of the subject
9. •Another type of I shot I have learned is dutch angle which
shows the scary effect and twisty side of the subject to show the
subject weird or physco. Another type is ariel shot which gives
the cinematic effect of the whole city from a bird’s eye view.
10. •I also learned about the types of lighting like high key lighting which shows
the day time or happy, lively things in the video. The low key lighting denotes
the night time usually used in horror movies and sometimes in romantic
movies. Another lighting is underlight which gives the spooky effect.
11. Q4: HOW TO INTEGRATE TECHNOLOGIES ( HARDWARE, SOFTWARE AND
ONLINE) ON THIS PROJECT?
•To make a video a lot od different technologies have to be used like different cameras,
editing software etc. In terms of software technologies the first thing I was asked to do
was to make a blog on tumblr. However the full video could not be uploaded due to limited
space so I made an account on Youtube and then posted the link of my video on my blog.
Initially to edit my video I decided to use adobe premiere pro but I found it very difficult to
use and I had to buy the software so I went for the cheapest thing possible the windows
moviemaker. I edited my whole video on it because its easy and cheap and the video can
be uploaded on social media directly. In terms of hardware I completed my shoot with a
tripod and a DSLR of canon. It took me while to learn how to shoot perfectly and in the
beginning I used to reshoot a lot but found my way in the end.
