16. Teacher's Notes
Hello Aussie Teachers ...
It's been great chatting with you via Facebook - thanks so much for your comments and suggestions!
Here's some further info for your theme day:
Spring Song: an easy to learn song and a professional animation - only one hiccup - a Christmas wreath
on the door during Winter but this could be a teaching point!
Fitness Dance: tip toe dancing to a lovely original version of Tiptoe Through the Tulips - who knew there
was a version before Tiny Tim's??
Poem about Spring: shared reading and discussion about spring
Text Innovation: brainstorm everyones' ideas regarding what they love. Use the printable to record and
illustrate student poems and staple together to make a class book.
Maths: Use the smart board games during a mat time or use in combination with other activities as a
small group rotation station. Activities include counting, number ordering and grid locations - most have
variable levels available.
Science: Watch a claymation of a growing flower, then see the real thing through the time-lapse
photography of a germinating seed. Follow up with a discussion about the parts of a flower where
students can draw and label fresh flowers or use the tulip photo.
Craft: Make paper flowers - the materials are listed.
Please tell me how you go in the comments below and also any ideas for future slideshows!
