PROJECT 16 PROPOSAL:
I wish to create a modeling project of the tables we have our computers on in class—that is, the
desks that are in our classroom in Index. I feel they are something readily available and
convenient to model, but which are of an appropriate scale for the class given the learning we
have done:
The back appears to contain sheet metal parts, there is plenty of welding, there is some amount
of milling, and the project overall feels as if it is something that is entirely pragmatic yet
practical for a student to tackle, something that is simple to understand and implement, but still
challenging to build and takes a number of hours to complete.
I can quite literally simply duck my head down under and point to any place and go, “We
covered that, here”. We covered the screws that keep the computers held up. We covered the
sheet metal used in the computer fastener and the back metal. It is all right there, wrapped up in
one neat little package that is staring us straight in the face.
So I feel as if it is a realistic project for me to tackle on my own. My proposed deliverable is the
entire table/desk, minus the computer and the monitor, fully assembled. (This may be slightly
more than I can pull off, depending on how much trouble creating the parts produces.)
It would include drawings of each part along with the assembly drawing of it.
