Postural back pain is a common complaint during pregnancy, affecting 50-70% of pregnant females, and can continue after delivery for up to 12 months. It is caused by postural changes due to pregnancy, ligamentous laxity from hormonal changes, and decreased abdominal muscle function. Traditional exercises, proper body mechanics, posture instruction, improving work techniques, and superficial modalities can help intervene, while deep heating, electrical stimulation, and traction are contraindicated.
